Nationwide Coverage for 5G Expected This Year

At the Government's Spring Meeting with representative state-owned enterprises on the morning of March 3rd, Mr. Tào Đức Thắng, Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, announced that the major strategies of the corporation have all been approved well in advance.

This year, Viettel will invest significantly in infrastructure, such as transportation infrastructure, digital infrastructure… 2024 will be a major transformation year as 2G will be shut down in September, leaving only 4G and 5G. Viettel will deploy 5G coverage nationwide.

This year, the corporation will allocate nearly 30,000 billion VND to enhance frequency including connecting systems to remote areas.

Secondly, the company will strengthen international cooperation, focusing on building large data centers for major enterprises such as Amazon, Microsoft to host large data centers.

Thirdly, Viettel will focus on digital transformation for the Government, businesses, and society. Mr. Tào Đức Thắng shares that there will soon be a very important mechanism for purchasing information technology at the ministry, sector, province, and city levels based on regular funding sources. This is a great advantage when digital enterprises like Viettel concentrate on providing effective digital transformation solutions.

Fourthly, the corporation will focus on high technology, aiming to ensure the effective use of what they have, while seeking new opportunities for growth. In addition, the corporation will focus on resolving bottlenecks and existing challenges.

“We hope that the Government will continue to support us in terms of legal framework, policies, and international cooperation to enable the corporation to continue to grow and have more opportunities to cooperate with major foreign enterprises in this field,” the head of Viettel said.
