Mount Nine Turns, towering over 500 meters above sea level, is a majestic mountain range and an iconic part of the landscape in the coastal city of Nha Trang. With ambitions to transform this area into a spiritual eco-zone and a new symbol of Khanh Hoa, the company, with the assistance of former leaders of Khanh Hoa, gradually “transformed” Mount Nine Turns into villa projects, residential land, and rental properties. As these projects were implemented, Mount Nine Turns was simultaneously “chopped up” and altered, losing its once peaceful beauty.

Video of the current state of the projects being implemented on Mount Nine Turns, filmed by Tien Phong on August 22.

Among the five projects on Mount Nine Turns, three belong to the Khanh Hoa Production and Construction Company, namely the Nine Dragons Mountain Temple Eco-Spiritual Project, the Doi Dat Lanh Urban Area Project, and the Vinh Trung Mountain-River Villa Project. The remaining two projects are the Thu Thiem Investment Joint Stock Company’s Westward Expansion of the Dat Lanh Residential Area and the Trung Tin Consulting and Investment Company’s Eco-Villa Village Project.

Mount Nine Turns was flattened and chopped up. The investor filled the mountain with soil, leveled it, and built roads. Dozens of hectares of mountains were excavated, creating a vast expanse of tens of thousands of square meters for the projects, leaving anyone who saw it heartbroken (top image). Up until now, one corner of the Vinh Trung Mountain-River Villa Project site has been densely planted with trees. Image: Tien Dat.

Following inspections by central agencies, all projects on Mount Nine Turns were found to have numerous violations related to land, investment, construction, and environmental protection. After several reviews and inspections, the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa directed the departments, branches, and localities to rectify, remedy, and strictly handle the violations.

According to Tien Phong’s observations on August 22, the area implementing the five projects on Mount Nine Turns has undergone significant changes.

For many years, the tallest mountain in Nha Trang city has been flattened and scarred (bottom image). At this point, when Tien Phong was present, there were still traces of the violations, but greenery could be seen in many areas. Recently, Khanh Hoa province retrieved 9.59 hectares of land on Mount Nine Turns, part of the remaining area of the villa and eco-tourism project in the Dat Lanh economic farm zone (bottom image). A portion of the Nine Dragons Mountain Temple Project was leveled to create a vast expanse (top image). After the revocation, the Nine Dragons Mountain Temple Eco-Spiritual Project is left with 142.55 hectares. Although the investor has planted trees, there haven’t been many changes compared to before. A portion of the project area has been greened (two images below). Image: Tien Dat.
