In preparation for the National Day holiday on September 2nd, Vietnamese airlines have planned to increase the number of flights, especially on domestic tourist routes, to meet the travel demands of passengers.

According to reports from Vietnamese airlines, from August 30th to September 3rd, a total of 4,257 flights will be operated, averaging 840 flights per day, a 3% increase compared to the previous holiday week and a 3.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Of these, the average number of domestic flights is 600 per day, a 5% increase compared to the previous holiday week and a 2.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The average number of international flights is 241 per day, a 2% decrease compared to the previous holiday week but a 5.1% increase compared to the same period.

Focusing on domestic routes, the airlines have increased the number of flights on the North-South route (connecting the three major cities of Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City) to an average of 241 flights per day, an 8% increase compared to the previous holiday week and a 14.9% increase compared to the same period last year.

These routes remain the most vibrant in the country, with high flight frequencies not only during major holidays but also on regular days.

The airlines have also increased their operations on domestic tourist routes (to destinations such as Vinh, Binh Dinh, Dalat, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc) and routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to other provinces, with an average of 171 flights per day on domestic tourist routes and 187 flights per day to other provinces, a 2% and 4% increase, respectively, compared to the previous holiday week.

“The increase in the number of flights during the upcoming holiday, especially on domestic routes, has allowed Vietnamese airlines to supplement the supply of seats in the market. According to a survey of data on airfare prices from Vietnamese airlines on August 20, ticket prices during the National Day holiday on September 2 increased by about 20% compared to regular days before the holiday,” said the Aviation Authority.
