Subaru Outback: A Refined SUV with Impressive Discounts
Car sales consultants are offering attractive deals on the Subaru Outback, including 100% road tax, 5-year maintenance, 5-year body insurance, and an unlimited km 5-year warranty. With these discounts, the price drops to VND 1.696 billion, a significant reduction from the listed price of VND 2.099 billion.
In Ho Chi Minh City, a sales consultant is offering an even lower price of VND 1.668 billion for the 2023 model, making it VND 28 million cheaper than what most dealerships offer.
The Subaru Outback is positioned above the Forester in the brand’s lineup, but the top-of-the-line Forester is still significantly more affordable, at VND 900 million less. This price difference is attributed to the Outback being imported from Japan, while the Forester is sourced from Thailand. However, this gap is expected to narrow as the Forester will also be imported from Japan following the closure of the Thai factory.
In the Vietnamese market, the Subaru Outback stands alone without any direct competitors. In terms of pricing, it rivals luxury SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLC (GLC 200: VND 1.909-2.299 billion) and the BMW X3 (from VND 1.795 billion). With the practical discounts, the 5-seater SUV becomes more accessible to a wider range of buyers. However, it still carries a higher price tag than the largest SUV offered by Hyundai, the 6-7 seater Palisade, which starts at VND 1.469-1.589 billion and is also currently being offered with dealer incentives, further lowering the effective starting price to VND 1.345 billion.
What Does the Subaru Outback Offer?
Despite being larger than the Forester, the Subaru Outback maintains a 5-seater configuration. It boasts a chrome-accented hexagonal grille, LED headlights with adjustable beam angles, large fog lights for a bolder look, and eye-catching 5-spoke alloy wheels. The rear end is relatively simple, with LED taillights serving as the focal point.
One of the Outback’s strengths is its spacious interior, comparable to that of a 5+2 SUV, but designed to comfortably accommodate five occupants. Notable convenience features include a wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-compatible display, a premium 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with a subwoofer, USB-C ports, and an enhanced X-MODE with Auto Restore functionality.
Under the hood, the Subaru Outback is powered by a 2.5-liter engine that generates 166 horsepower and 252 Nm of torque. It is paired with a CVT transmission and features Auto Restore technology, which activates a “standby mode” when the vehicle travels above 40 km/h and reactivates when the speed drops below 35 km/h.
One of the Outback’s standout features is the Eyesight 4.0 suite of driver-assist technologies, which includes blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking (both forward and reverse), lane-keeping assist with lane centering, and adaptive cruise control, among others.
With its spacious interior, advanced safety features, and refined driving experience, the Subaru Outback is a strong contender for the “Car of the Year” award at the Car Choice Awards (CCA) under the Better Choice Awards (CCA) 2024. This year, the CCA features seven award categories: “Trendsetting Car,” “Innovative Car Design,” “Best Entry-Level Car,” “Car of the Year,” “Best Family Car,” “Luxury Family Car,” and “Best New Car Brand.”
The Better Choice Awards recognize and celebrate “Innovative Breakthroughs” in products, services, and achievements that bring tangible benefits to consumers. Instead of seeking the “best in segment,” it focuses on meeting the practical needs of consumers to help them find the most suitable brands and products.
Better Choice Awards 2024 is now open for nominations in six industries: Technology, Automotive, Consumer Goods, Finance and Banking, Fashion, and Transportation Services. Submit your nominations at https://betterchoice.vn/.
Car Market During Lunar New Year: Abundant Supply, Decreased Demand
Entering into the beginning of February 2024, the Vietnam automobile market has witnessed contrasting fluctuations compared to the previous period. Firstly, we must mention the policy of reducing 50% of the registration fee for domestically assembled vehicles, which officially expired after December 31, 2023. To seize the opportunity provided by this policy, a large number of users took advantage of buying before the state’s incentives came to an end.
