On August 30, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department conducted a surprise inspection of four gold businesses in District 5, discovering goods without invoices or proof of origin.
The inspected businesses presented their registered business certificates as required. However, the inspection team discovered 11 gold necklace chains with unclear origins and no accompanying invoices, totaling over VND 130 million in value. A report was filed, and the case is being further investigated for legal action.
The inspection team also took the opportunity to educate the gold businesses on complying with legal regulations regarding gold and foreign currency trading.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department, Team 5 will continue to inspect gold trading businesses in District 5 to help stabilize the gold market as prices soar. These efforts are part of the team’s ongoing work to combat counterfeit, unknown origin, and low-quality goods in the region.
