FPT Polytechnic High School, part of the FPT Corporation’s education organization, offers a unique educational program for students who have graduated from lower secondary school. The admission requirements include a lower secondary school diploma and a review of the student’s academic records.

Mr. Bui Quang Hung (born in 1988), the director of FPT Polytechnic High School, has been associated with FPT Education for almost two decades, first as a student and then as the director since January 2019.

FPT was one of the first businesses to venture into the education sector. In 1999, this prominent information technology company dipped its toes into education by establishing the international programmer training center, FPT Aptech. Subsequently, in 2006, they officially founded their first university.
The FPT Education System offers a comprehensive educational journey, encompassing primary, secondary, and tertiary education, as well as postgraduate studies. According to the 2023 annual report, FPT has 17 subsidiaries in the fields of education and training, including various schools.
In 2023, FPT and its entities within the FPT Education Organization collaborated with multiple partners to offer training in emerging technologies such as AI and semiconductor chips.
The education sector’s revenue for 2023 reached VND 6,159 billion, a significant growth of 30.7% compared to the previous year.
The FPT Education Organization completed nearly 170,000 square meters of construction for educational facilities and expanded its presence to 10 provinces and cities nationwide, including Bac Giang, Binh Phuoc, Ha Nam, Khanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc, and Vung Tau. By the end of 2023, the organization boasted a total of 145,000 students across its system, marking a remarkable 34% growth compared to the previous year.
The Full Story of the Lecturer’s Dismissal
On August 10, a specific incident unfolded when a student, N.K.L from class GD1807, submitted an assignment for the subject of Color in the Graphic Design major. The lecturer, L.V.M.D, gave the student a zero, citing the reason as “Use of AI, inability to edit the work according to the lecturer’s instructions, resulting in no improvement in the quality of the assignment compared to the previous one.”
N.K.L questioned this grade in the class’s Messenger chat group. The student’s family felt that the lecturer’s comment in the group chat embarrassed the student in front of their peers and caused a negative impact on their mental health.
Subsequently, N.K.L’s family raised concerns and requested the school to reassess the lecturer’s competence.
On August 15, the school conducted a re-evaluation of the assignment, and N.K.L. ultimately received a passing grade of 5 points. During the re-evaluation process, the student expressed satisfaction with the new result. The lecturer also met privately with the student to apologize directly, under the supervision of the school’s Training Department. However, N.K.L’s family was not content with this resolution and demanded that the lecturer apologize publicly in the class group chat.
In an interview with Tuoi Tre Online, Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Director of FPT Polytechnic High School, shared that the school and lecturer L.V.M.D. agreed to terminate the labor contract as of August 28, 2024.
The decision to terminate the contract was based on the lecturer’s inappropriate behavior, mistakes in evaluating the student’s work, and offensive language towards the student in the group chat.
Interestingly, after lecturer L.V.M.D’s contract termination, numerous students from class GD1807 spoke out in defense of the lecturer, demanding justice for her and sharing messages from the group chat to present a different perspective on the incident. The students felt that the school’s decision was unfair and too harsh on lecturer M.D.
This incident sparked mixed reactions, with many people expressing their anger on the school’s official fanpage, leaving negative comments and calling for justice for lecturer M.D.
In a recent development, FPT Polytechnic High School acknowledged on their official fanpage that their handling of the situation was not entirely satisfactory and that it had generated public discussion within the community.
On September 3, 2024, during a meeting, the school, based on its wishes, and the lecturer, based on her personal wishes, agreed to reinstate lecturer L.V.M.D. to continue teaching at the school.
