Information from the General Department of Customs, the Department of Supervision and Management of Customs has just had a working session with representatives of Temu Vietnam. This unit stated that it is in the process of working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to complete the dossier for registering the provision of e-commerce services in Vietnam.

Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has provided guidance on procedures and supplemented necessary documents, and Temu has completed the dossier and is awaiting feedback. Temu Vietnam representatives expressed their desire for guidance from the customs authorities to facilitate the early and favorable import of Vietnamese goods.

On this issue, the leader of the Department of Supervision and Management of Customs said that since Temu has not yet been licensed, there is no basis for resolving customs procedures. Therefore, after the Ministry of Industry and Trade grants permission for Temu to operate, the customs authority will carry out customs procedures for import and export goods traded on the e-commerce platform like other providers and importers and exporters.

The General Department of Customs stated that there is no basis for resolving customs procedures for goods from Temu as the platform has not yet been licensed.

Regarding the import and export activities transacted through e-commerce platforms, the General Department of Customs has recently directed local customs units to strengthen inspection, supervision, and control of goods traded through e-commerce.

The General Department of Customs requested the directors of provincial/municipal Customs Departments to direct the units under their jurisdiction to strengthen the inspection, supervision, and control of goods traded through e-commerce.

The customs branches at border gates shall fully and properly implement the prescribed steps in the customs procedure, especially for lots of goods transported independently from border gates to aggregation locations, and conduct concentrated inspection and supervision for postal items and express delivery.

The units shall not carry out customs procedures for independent transport declarations that do not declare information about the name of the website providing e-commerce services, the application providing e-commerce services, the name of the e-commerce website selling goods, the sales application, etc., which have not been notified on the e-commerce activity management system of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
