Prime Minister: Thanh Hoa Aspires to be a Growth Hub for Northern Vietnam and Beyond

Reporting to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the working group, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa, Do Minh Tuan, said that Thanh Hoa has effectively and synchronously implemented Directive No. 40-CT/TW dated December 11, 2024, of the Secretariat and Directive No. 45/CT-TTg dated December 18, 2024, of the Prime Minister on organizing the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Buffalo 2025. The province has taken good care of the revolutionary contributors, the poor, workers, and employees with difficult circumstances in the locality.

The province has paid preferential allowances for January and February to more than 64,000 revolutionary contributors and their relatives, with a total budget of over VND 420 billion; paid social allowances in January 2025 to more than 187,000 subjects and households taking care of and nurturing social protection subjects, with a total budget of over VND 142 billion; taken care of, treated, and ensured good regimes and policies and organized Tet-welcoming activities for more than 2,000 subjects being taken care of, nurtured, and managed at social protection establishments, convalescence establishments for revolutionary contributors, and public drug rehabilitation establishments in the province. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the outstanding achievements that the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Thanh Hoa Province have achieved in the past time, especially in 2024

The provincial-level authorities have allocated the budget and mobilized socialization resources with a total value of money and goods of more than VND 375 billion to present to revolutionary contributors’ families, the poor, and people with difficult circumstances. Workers and employees in the province have been paid salaries, bonuses, and other regimes. The program to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor, families of revolutionary contributors, and households with housing difficulties in the locality has achieved good results. Up to now, the provincial-level authorities have mobilized more than VND 282 billion and supported the construction and repair of more than 4,200 houses for the poor, families of revolutionary contributors, and households with housing difficulties, contributing to building a “safe and happy home” for the people during Tet.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, visiting, giving gifts, and wishing a happy new year to the Party Committee, army, and people of Thanh Hoa Province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the outstanding achievements that the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Thanh Hoa Province have achieved in the past time, especially in 2024, with a two-digit economic growth rate, high budget revenue, and ensured social security. Especially, the Party Committee, authorities, and people continue to promote and maintain unity in the Party, the entire political system, and unity in the people.

The Prime Minister said that as a province with both mountainous, plain, and coastal areas; with all modes of transportation; with a large population and historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions, Thanh Hoa needs to promote its potential, strengths, and advantages for development. In particular, it is necessary to promote the human factor in tandem with taking care of people, ensuring social security, progress, fairness, and equality and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people, especially families of revolutionary contributors, the poor, workers, and employees working on construction sites when Tet comes, so that no one is left behind.

Emphasizing that 2025 is a special year with many important tasks: continuing to rearrange the organizational apparatus; promoting economic growth of 8%, striving for two-digit growth in the coming time; reviewing and striving to complete the socio-economic development targets for the 2021-2025 period; organizing party congresses at all levels, towards the XIV Congress of the Party; organizing the celebration of major holidays of the country…, the Prime Minister requested Thanh Hoa Province to closely follow these tasks, excellently completing the tasks, educating the tradition of patriotism and national pride for officials, party members, and people, together with the country to step into a new era – an era of vigorous development, civilization, and prosperity, and people are getting happier and richer.

The Prime Minister noted that Thanh Hoa Province must renew the traditional growth drivers and promote new growth drivers. In particular, it is necessary to promote, expand, and develop the Nghi Son economic hub, expand the second phase of the Nghi Son Economic Zone and other drivers such as Sam Son, Bim Son, and Lam Son. Promote the role of Tho Xuan Airport, study the construction of Sao Vang Airport urban area; research and invest in the expressway connecting Thanh Hoa with Hoa Binh and Son La…

Along with that, focus on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, and by the end of 2025, the whole province will no longer have temporary and dilapidated houses; build houses for workers and low-income people, ensuring that people “settle down and do business.”

The Prime Minister hopes and believes that the Party Committee, authorities, the entire political system, army, and people of Thanh Hoa Province will continue to be united, determined, make great efforts, and take drastic actions to well implement the tasks in 2025 with better results than in 2024, and Thanh Hoa will truly be the driving force for the growth of the North and the whole country.
