A drug trafficking ring, led by Vừ Nỏ Dính (born 1985), a Vietnamese migrant residing in Myanmar, has been dismantled. Dính organized the transportation of illicit drugs from the Golden Triangle area through northern Laos, ultimately intended for consumption in Vietnam.

On June 8, at 13:00 local time, in the village of Don Sa At, Pak Beng District, Oudomxay Province (Laos), a special task force from the Điện Biên Provincial Public Security, in collaboration with the Oudomxay, Luang Prabang Provincial Public Security, and the Representative Office of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Laos, apprehended Vàng A Minh (born 1992, residing in Ca Hâu village, Na Ư, Điện Biên, Điện Biên Province) for illicit drug transportation. The seized evidence included 67 cakes of synthetic drugs cunningly concealed in a pickup truck, along with related documents and exhibits.

Expanding the investigation, the task force, in collaboration with the Phongsaly Provincial Public Security, apprehended another accomplice, Sổm Đi (born 1982, residing in Chu Lao Sẻn Câu village), in Bun Tay District, Phongsaly Province, on the same day. The seized evidence from Sổm Đi included one cake of synthetic drugs, an air gun, 100 bullets, and a mobile phone.

During the interrogation, the detainees confessed that they were hired by Vừ Nỏ Dính, whom they met through social media, to transport drugs from the Golden Triangle area to Muang Mai District, Phongsaly Province, for a payment of 40,000 Thai Baht (approximately 33 million VND).

The special task force of the Điện Biên Provincial Public Security continues to coordinate with law enforcement agencies in northern Laos to expand the investigation, apprehend related subjects, and consolidate the case file for strict handling in accordance with Lao law.
