As of the closing trading session last night and early this morning on December 13th (Vietnam time), coffee prices saw a significant decline. Robusta coffee prices on the London exchange dropped by 1.99% to 2.62%, while Arabica prices on the New York exchange fell by 1.41% to 1.82%.
In the reference futures contracts, Robusta for January 2026 delivery settled at $4,122 per ton, down $84. The March 2026 contract fell below the $4,000 mark, closing at $3,999 per ton, a decrease of $108. Arabica for March 2026 delivery was at $8,140, down $150 per ton.
Domestically, coffee prices today are likely to fall below the 100,000 VND/kg mark, with the average price before the London session trading at 101,000 VND/kg.
Coffee Prices Plummet This Week
Robusta prices are currently at their lowest in about 10 weeks, influenced by the removal of U.S. countervailing duties and Vietnam’s ongoing harvest, which is expected to increase production by 6-10% compared to the previous season.
Although Vietnam has not significantly expanded its coffee cultivation area, high prices have encouraged farmers to invest in better care and high-quality, high-yield varieties, leading to increased production.
In Brazil, the U.S. Department of Agriculture forecasts a record-breaking harvest of 70.7 million bags, equivalent to 4.242 million tons of coffee, easing concerns about supply shortages.
In the short term, coffee processing plants have completed peak production for the Christmas and New Year 2026 season, resulting in reduced demand for raw materials.
