Amid difficult economic times and a decrease in local consumer spending, car manufacturers have been competing to introduce new cars in order to diversify their product lines and stimulate customer demand. However, purchasing power has not improved significantly, forcing car manufacturers and dealers to adjust their prices in an attempt to sell their products. In fact, some car models have seen significant price reductions even during the pre-order phase. Specifically, Mitsubishi recently launched the Xforce line in January 2024, with prices ranging from 620 million to 699 million VND for three different versions. Despite being in the pre-order phase, the company has announced a simultaneous 20 million VND price reduction for these models, bringing the prices down to 599 million, 640 million, and 680 million VND, respectively. Similarly, Honda has reduced the price of its new 7-seater model, the BR-V, by offering 100% vehicle registration fee exemption, equivalent to a 65-70 million VND discount, depending on the version. Meanwhile, Toyota has lowered the price of the recently launched Yaris Cross model, with price reductions ranging from 73-80 million VND, depending on the version. The new prices for this model are now 650 million VND for the regular version and 765 million VND for the hybrid version. The Viloran model by Volkswagen, which was introduced last year with prices ranging from 1.989 billion to 2.188 billion VND, is now also being offered with discounts of nearly 200 million VND. In addition, Chinese car manufacturer Lynk & Co entered the Vietnamese market at the end of last year with two models, 01 and 05, priced at 999 million VND and 1.599 billion VND, respectively. In response to customer feedback regarding the high prices, the company has announced price reductions of hundreds of million VND. |
