Mazda has unveiled the 2025 CX-90, starting at an unchanged base price of $37,845 in the US market (equivalent to 957 million VND, excluding shipping fees), solidifying its position in the three-row SUV/crossover segment.
The 2025 Mazda CX-90 introduces the Premium Sport trim
The most notable highlight is the introduction of the Premium Sport trim, with a starting price of $46,400 for the conventional engine option and $54,900 for the plug-in hybrid variant.
Based on the Preferred trim, the Premium Sport stands out with a bold aesthetic: glossy black grille, black chrome accents, and matte black logo. It features 21-inch black alloy wheels, black side mirrors, and a matching roof rack. Additionally, this trim includes a hands-free power liftgate and a panoramic sunroof.
Inside, the Mazda CX-90 Premium Sport boasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a Bose 12-speaker audio setup. Other notable features include an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a head-up display (HUD), and auto-dimming side mirrors with HomeLink integration.
This trim also gains advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), such as emergency lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, front cross-traffic avoidance assistance, secondary collision reduction, and Cruising & Traffic Support, which enables the vehicle to accelerate, brake, and maintain its lane at low speeds without driver intervention. The Mazda CX-90 Premium Sport is equipped with the Mazda Intelligent Drive Select system and offers a maximum towing capacity of 2,268 kg for the gasoline-powered variant.
What do the other trims offer?
In the US, the Mazda CX-90 is available in four trim levels: Select (standard), Preferred, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus. These trims are further divided into Turbo (gasoline engine), PHEV (plug-in hybrid), and S (highest-grade) options. In total, there are nine different configurations.
Aside from the new Premium Sport trim, the Select trim remains unchanged, and consequently, its price is also unaltered. The Preferred trim, on the other hand, has been upgraded with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Mazda has also added a wireless smartphone charging pad, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system to this trim. These additional features have resulted in a $500 increase in the price of the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Preferred, bringing it to $40,945. However, the CX-90 PHEV Preferred maintains its starting price of $49,945.
Two powertrain options
In terms of powertrains, the 2025 Mazda CX-90 standard model is equipped with a 3.3-liter inline-six gasoline engine with a turbocharger, delivering 280 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. This power is sent to all wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system.
Alternatively, customers can opt for the plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery pack. This system generates a combined output of 323 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, enabling the vehicle to travel up to 42 kilometers solely on electric power.
