As of June 2024, the total amount of tax and other budgetary debts owed by taxpayers, as recently announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, stood at VND 5,570 billion.
Notably, seven entities owe hundreds of billions of dong in taxes. These include Cross-Vietnam Oil Trading and Tourism Company Limited with over VND 1,739 billion, Pacific Airlines Joint Stock Company with over VND 756 billion, Housing Development and Trading Corporation with VND 329 billion, Viet Hai Sea Transport and Real Estate Joint Stock Company with VND 245 billion, Construction and Trading No. 8 Joint Stock Company with over VND 145 billion, Hiep Hung Shoes Company Limited with VND 129 billion, and Timatex Co., Ltd. with VND 118 billion.
Interestingly, the tax debt list of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department includes several familiar technology and information technology service companies, such as FPT Telecom, Asanzo, and Sony Electronics Vietnam.
FPT Telecom Tan Thuan owes over VND 69.2 billion in taxes
FPT Telecom Tan Thuan (Tax Code: 0101778163-006), located in Lot U.37-391 Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, Tan Thuan Dong Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, owes more than VND 69.2 billion in taxes.
Regarding the tax debt of FPT Telecom Tan Thuan, at the beginning of 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department also issued a decision to enforce tax collection from FPT Telecom Tan Thuan for domestic tax debt of over VND 71 billion.
Specifically, based on the proposal of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department in Official Letter No. 3756/CT-TPHCM-QLN dated March 30, 2023, on suspending export and import customs procedures, the Investment Goods Management Customs Branch, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, issued a decision to enforce the suspension of export and import customs procedures for FPT Telecom Tan Thuan due to its tax debt of over 90 days from the due date as prescribed. The enforced debt amount exceeded VND 71 billion.
Asanzo owes VND 52.2 billion in taxes
Asanzo Group Joint Stock Company (Tax Code: 0314074316), located in Room 903, 9th Floor, Flemington Tower, 182 Le Dai Hanh, Ward 15, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City, owes over VND 52.2 billion in taxes.
In a related development, recently, Mr. Pham Van Tam (former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asanzo Group Joint Stock Company) and Mr. Pham Xuan Tinh (legal representative and General Director of Asanzo Company) were prosecuted by the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency for the crime of tax evasion under Clause 3, Article 200 of the Penal Code.
Sony Electronics Vietnam owes over VND 18.2 billion in taxes
