On August 8th, Ms. Do Thi Lien, Director of the Lien Thuy People’s Credit Fund in Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province, shared an incident where their staff prevented a potential scam and safeguarded a client’s funds.
Earlier, Ms. Do Thi C., a resident of Quy Hau village in Lien Thuy town, approached the Lien Thuy People’s Credit Fund to withdraw 90.2 million VND from her savings account and transfer it to another individual’s account. The transaction raised suspicions, and despite staff members’ direct discussions with Ms. C., she insisted on proceeding with the transfer.
Ms. Lien, with her extensive experience, took charge of the situation. She met with Ms. C. and, through gentle persuasion and assurance, learned the details of the transaction. Ms. C. revealed that she expected to receive a package from abroad and was asked to transfer an amount equivalent to 50% of the package’s value to facilitate its delivery. In this case, transferring 90.2 million VND would supposedly result in her receiving over 180 million VND in return.
Recognizing the scam, the Lien Thuy People’s Credit Fund collaborated with the local police to verify the recipient’s account, confirming it belonged to a fraudster. They promptly halted the transaction, ensuring the safety of Ms. C.’s savings.
In a similar incident, the Quang Binh branch of the State Bank recently commended the staff of the Hoan Trach Transaction Office of the Van Trach People’s Credit Fund, especially Ms. Le Thi Anh, an accountant, for their role in thwarting a high-tech scam attempt. They recognized the staff’s contribution to ensuring the safety and security of the fund’s operations.
In this instance, Ms. Hoang Thi V. from Hoan Lao town intended to transfer 30 million VND. However, the recipient’s account details raised red flags, and the staff identified it as a high-tech scam, preventing any financial loss.
