Flights are nearly fully booked

According to a survey by Tien Phong correspondents, for the Hanoi – Da Lat route on August 31 and the return journey on September 2, Vietnam Airlines’ round-trip ticket prices ranged from VND 3.3 to 6.7 million (including taxes and fees) for economy class, and from VND 5.1 to 11.9 million for business class. However, business class seats were sold out on many flights.

For the same route and dates, Vietjet’s business class seats were also sold out, with economy class tickets ranging from VND 1.6 to 2.6 million, and Sky boss tickets at VND 3 million.

A survey of the Ho Chi Minh City – Danang route for the same dates showed that Vietnam Airlines’ round-trip ticket prices ranged from VND 1.6 to 6.5 million for economy class, and from VND 3.5 to 13.5 million for business class. Business class seats were sold out on many flights, and economy class seats were also filling up quickly, with only 1-2 seats left on some flights.

The situation was similar for the Hanoi – Da Lat route, with Vietjet’s premium seats for the Ho Chi Minh City – Danang route also fully booked. Cheaper seats ranged from VND 1.1 to 1.4 million for economy class and VND 2.1 million for Sky boss class.

On the Ho Chi Minh City – Danang route, Bamboo Airways’ round-trip ticket prices ranged from VND 1.9 to 4.2 million for economy class and from VND 3.2 to 9.4 million for business class. Many flights were already sold out.

The survey showed that while there were a range of price options for passengers during the holiday period, cheap seats were not a priority for most travelers. Business class seats on flights operated by all carriers were booked very early and were almost fully booked on many tourist routes.

For train tickets, the soft seat price for the Ho Chi Minh City – Danang route on August 31 ranged from VND 760,000 to 820,000, while the berth price ranged from VND 1 to 1.3 million. Trains departing after 7 PM were prioritized by passengers and had very few seats left. Night trains were more popular than daytime trains.

According to online travel platforms, the domestic destinations that Vietnamese tourists were most interested in searching for included: Da Lat – Lam Dong, Danang, Vung Tau, Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An – Quang Nam, Hanoi, Hue – Thua Thien Hue, Sa Pa – Lao Cai, and Phan Thiet. The international destinations that Vietnamese tourists were interested in included: Bangkok (Thailand), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Singapore, and Hong Kong (China).

Airlines and railways increase services

To meet the high demand of passengers during the National Day holiday, airlines in Vietnam have planned to significantly increase the number of flights, and railways will also add more passenger trains.

Vietnam Airlines will significantly increase the number of flights during the National Day peak period from August 30 to September 4. The total number of seats offered on domestic and international routes during this period is expected to reach nearly 500,000, equivalent to nearly 2,500 flights. The carrier will focus on increasing frequencies on domestic routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and tourist destinations such as Danang, Da Lat, and Cam Ranh, as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue, Phu Quoc, and more. The international routes with the most added flights are between Vietnam and India, China, Thailand, and Australia.

Vietjet Airlines plans to add 25,000 seats, equivalent to 120 flights, to meet domestic and international travel demand from August 31 to September 3. Specifically, the carrier will offer additional seats on many domestic routes to and from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Hue. Vietjet is also offering promotional fares on some domestic and international routes.

The Vietnam Railways Corporation will increase the number of passenger trains on various routes to meet the rising travel demand during the National Day holiday. The corporation continues to apply regular fare discounts for social policy beneficiaries, such as Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded soldiers, people with disabilities, senior citizens, children, students, union members, and customers with ID cards. Additionally, customers purchasing round-trip tickets will enjoy a 5% discount on the return fare for individuals and a 7% discount for groups of 20 or more people.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has sent a document to Vietnamese carriers regarding their operational plans during the National Day holiday period. The carriers are requested to proactively coordinate with travel businesses to develop programs and plans for operating flights to key tourist destinations, both domestic and international, to promote domestic and international tourism activities.
