The Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee has announced its approval for the construction of an interchange connecting the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway with Provincial Road 991 and My Xuan-Ngai Giao-Hoa Binh Road. This decision was made by the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board.
Prior to this, at a meeting of the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, after hearing the report and investment proposal from the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Provincial People’s Committee, the Standing Board discussed and agreed to the investment policy for the interchange.
The Provincial Party Committee has entrusted the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Provincial People’s Committee with the task of directing the subsequent steps to implement the investment of this interchange, ensuring compliance with the proper processes, procedures, and regulations.
According to the report by the Provincial Department of Transport, the design of Component Project 3 of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, which passes through Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, includes a complete interchange with DT992, but there is no connection with DT991.
As per the provincial planning for 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050, Provincial Road 991 is one of the two provincial roads connecting the Cai Mep- Thi Vai port area, Phu My town, Chau Duc and Xuyen Moc districts, and Binh Thuan province. Therefore, the construction of an interchange between Provincial Road 991 and the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway is essential.
The Provincial Department of Transport presented three construction options for the elevated interchange between the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway and proposed Option 2, a complete diamond interchange with an estimated investment of VND 1,495 billion.
The Provincial Party Committee has entrusted the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Provincial People’s Committee with the task of finalizing the procedures and submitting the investment proposal for this important interchange to the Ministry of Transport. The entire cost of constructing the interchange will be covered by the local budget.
The Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway is nearly 54 km long, with over 34 km in Dong Nai province and almost 20 km in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. The project commenced in June 2023 with a total investment of over VND 17,800 billion.
The project is divided into three components, with the first component being managed by the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee and spanning 16 km. The second component, measuring 18.2 km, is under the purview of the Ministry of Transport, while the third component, at 19.5 km, is overseen by the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial People’s Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh, Director of the Project Management Board of the Cai Mep- Thi Vai Port Area and the investor of Component Project 3, shared that the project comprises one construction package (Package No. 11 – Construction and Equipment). There are 11 bridges and one tunnel for civilians along the route. A consortium of three contractors is simultaneously working on multiple construction fronts.
The road construction has made progress with the establishment of concrete mixing stations at Km39+950 and Km48+800, as well as the installation of a stone crusher at a quarry in Chau Pha commune, Phu My town. Foundation work has been completed for K0.95 and K1.02, along with the construction of service roads, right branches at the intersection of National Highway 56, and the grading of stone chips.
Mr. Trinh expressed confidence in the possibility of completing the construction three months ahead of schedule.
