The project for the road connecting Nguyen Van Cu and Ngoc Thuy streets has a length of over 1.5 km and a capital investment of over VND 1,200 billion. This is one of the key technical infrastructure investment projects of the city, assigned to Long Bien district, and is a project to celebrate 70 years of Hanoi’s Liberation (10/10/1954 – 10/10/2024).
The project starts at Nguyen Van Cu Street, where a direct overpass is constructed towards Co Linh Street (crossing Nguyen Van Cu Street) with a total bridge width of 12 m and a length of 211 m.
The endpoint of the project intersects with Ngoc Thuy Dyke, where there is a resettlement area for Ngoc Thuy Ward. To implement the project, land must be reclaimed from approximately 485 households, individuals, and organizations, of which about 176 households will be resettled.
The road has a cross-section width of 40m and includes the synchronous construction of roads, sidewalks, curbs, traffic organization, greenery, lighting, water supply, drainage, telecommunications, and electricity according to the planning.
The project commenced construction in 2018 and was expected to be completed within two years. However, due to challenges in site clearance and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the project encountered delays.
The road passes through Tai Trau Lake, dividing the lake into two parts, and will restore the National Railway Bridge on the Hanoi-Lang Son route upon project completion.
This is the final section of the inter-regional road system, serving as a central ring road for the district. The completion of this route creates a seamless transportation link from the Dong Tru area to Vinh Tuy and Thanh Tri bridges, connecting to the Hanoi-Haiphong expressway, thus contributing to the improvement of the district’s transportation network.
Specifically, Dong Tru, Vinh Tuy, and Thanh Tri bridges play a pivotal role in connecting the transportation gateways to the capital. The Hanoi-Haiphong expressway is Vietnam’s first expressway built to international standards, spanning over 105 km with a total investment of more than VND 45,000 billion. The starting point of the expressway is located on Hanoi’s Ring Road 3, just over 1 km away from Thanh Tri Bridge.
The official opening of the Nguyen Van Cu – Ngoc Thuy road connection serves as a catalyst for enhancing the value of surrounding projects. A notable example is Khai Son City, as the road now provides a convenient and swift connection between the project and Hanoi’s city center. Residents will enjoy easy access to public utilities, commercial services, and vibrant entertainment hubs in the city.
Long Bien district, with over 20 years of establishment and development, has consistently been recognized by the city as a “bright spot” and a “pioneer” in various fields. Notably, the district’s urban planning, investment in construction, and urban development have been highly effective. The Nguyen Van Cu – Ngoc Thuy road project is expected to significantly contribute to the economic, cultural, and social development of the capital and its surrounding areas, promoting urbanization and attracting investment.
