VinFast recently hosted a workshop discussing automotive localization.
During the event, VinFast announced its plans to increase localization from over 60% to 84% by 2026. This news attracted significant attention from the media and the public. On average, a car is estimated to have 30,000 parts, and as the final product impacts the lives of users and those around them, car manufacturing is considered one of the pinnacles of the manufacturing industry—in other words, producing a car is no easy feat!

Within the 335-hectare production complex, the Press Shop plays a crucial role in VinFast’s car manufacturing.
The Press Shop at the VinFast Hai Phong factory has two main areas: Area 1 produces shaped steel sheets for the body structure, while Area 2 creates shaped steel sheets that form the main body components.

Inside Area 1 at the Press Shop.
Area 1 in the Press Shop spans approximately 200,000 square meters and is a distinctive feature of the VinFast factory compared to conventional plants. This area comprises a pressing line with 9 presses ranging from 800 to 1,200 tons and a welding line with 3 working lines.
As mentioned, Area 1 at the Press Shop is responsible for producing shaped steel sheets from large steel coils. This area also serves as the largest internal component supplier within VinFast’s entire Hai Phong production complex, with a capacity to meet the demands of 250,000 vehicles per year, including the VF 3, VF 5, and VF 9 models.

Area 2 at the Press Shop covers approximately 80,000 square meters and has a capacity of 38 cars per hour. It houses Vietnam’s first automated car pressing system.
In Area 2, the system produces shaped steel sheets used to make key car components such as hoods, side panels, and roofs. The production system in this area has completely replaced the need for imports from abroad.
