During the overnight trading session ending October 21 (Vietnam time), the price of Robusta coffee on the London exchange exhibited mixed movements across different contract periods.
Robusta Coffee Prices Show Mixed Trends
Specifically, near-term contracts experienced slight declines, while longer-term contracts showed upward trends. The benchmark November 2025 contract fell by $36 to $4,516 per ton.
The January 2026 contract dropped by $14 to $4,464 per ton, and the March 2026 contract decreased by $4 to $4,395 per ton. Conversely, the May 2026 contract rose by $4 to $4,338 per ton, and the July 2026 contract increased by $7 to $4,286 per ton.
At the current exchange rate, the November 2025 Robusta coffee contract is equivalent to approximately 117,900 VND per kilogram. Given this development, the domestic coffee market is expected to open slightly lower than the previous average of 114,300 VND per kilogram.
In key coffee-producing regions, domestic robusta coffee prices are hovering between 113,500 and 116,600 VND per kilogram, with the lowest prices in Lam Dong and the highest in Dak Lak. Arabica Coffee in Lam Dong
Can Arabica’s Price Surge Boost Robusta?
On the New York exchange, Arabica coffee prices surged past the 400 US cents/pound mark for the December 2025 contract.
In the latest session, this contract closed up 8.6 US cents/pound, or $190 per ton, at 406.05 US cents/pound, equivalent to $8,950 per ton.
Arabica is nearing the $9,000 per ton threshold, a level last seen in February 2025 during a period of global trade tensions.
According to experts, when Arabica prices rise, Robusta becomes relatively cheaper, gaining a competitive edge and greater potential for price increases.
Robusta has now become a key ingredient in the roasting blends of many major global coffee brands.
In the previous season, Robusta prices surpassed Arabica, indicating this could happen again, especially as the U.S. imposes a 20% retaliatory tariff on Vietnamese coffee (primarily Robusta), while Brazil, the world’s largest Arabica exporter, faces a 50% tariff.
