January 2024: HOSE Welcomes 2 Companies with Market Capitalization over $10 Billion

Regarding scores, at the end of the last trading session of January 2024, the VN-Index reached 1,164.31 points, VNAllshare reached 1,182.55 points, and VN30 reached 1,166.33 points; increasing by 3.04%, 2.34%, and 3.08% respectively compared to December 2023.

The top 3 sectors with the highest points increase in the first month of 2024 were: the financial sector index (VNFIN) increased by 6.47%; the consumer goods sector index (VNCOND) increased by 5.49%; the utility services sector index (VNUTI) increased by 1.84%.

On the contrary, the sectors with the highest points decrease were: the real estate sector index (VNREAL) decreased by 3.25%; the energy sector index (VNENE) decreased by 2.03%; the essential consumer goods sector index (VNCONS) decreased by 1.75%.

Regarding liquidity, the average trading volume reached 726.2 million shares/day, with the average trading value reaching more than 16,531 billion VND/day; increasing by 4.6% in volume and 3.58% in value compared to December 2023.

Regarding secured warrant (CW) trading, CW liquidity also recorded positive growth with an average trading volume of more than 56.8 million CW/day, corresponding to an average trading value of more than 42.7 billion VND/day; increasing by 20.4% in volume and 42.3% in value compared to December 2023.

The total trading value of foreign investors in January reached over 52,551 billion VND, accounting for more than 7.22% of the total trading value of the whole market. Foreign investors conducted net buying in the month with a value of more than 1,304 billion VND.

About market scale, as of January 31, 2024, there were 628 listed securities trading on HOSE, including 396 stocks, 4 closed-end fund certificates, 14 ETF fund certificates, and 214 secured warrants. The total volume of listed securities reached over 152.9 billion shares.

The market capitalization of stocks on HOSE reached over 4.7 million billion VND, an increase of 3.34% compared to the end of 2023, accounting for nearly 94% of the total market capitalization of listed stocks and equivalent to 46.06% of GDP in 2023 (at current prices).

About listing activities, on HOSE, there are 3 stocks (stock code HNA of Hua Na Hydropower Joint Stock Company; stock code QNP of Quy Nhon Port Joint Stock Company and stock code TCI of Thanh Cong Securities Joint Stock Company), along with 5 new CW codes listed and officially traded in January.

By the end of January 2024, there were 41 companies on HOSE with market capitalization of more than 1 billion USD, including 2 companies with market capitalization of over 10 billion USD which are Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade (HOSE: VCB) and Vietnam Investment and Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HOSE: BID).
