Today, on February 15, 2024, VinFast Auto introduces for the first time its range of reverse steering electric cars to the market at the International Indonesia Motor Show (IIMS) 2024. During the event, Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited and autographed the VinFast VF 5 model displayed at VinFast’s booth.

The electric car manufacturer said the official launch in the Indonesian market marks the next step in VinFast’s global expansion plan, while strongly reaffirming its commitment to promoting sustainable transportation in the archipelago nation and worldwide.

Also during the exhibition, President Joko Widodo of Indonesia had the opportunity to test-drive a VinFast electric car at the VinFast booth.

At IIMS 2024, VinFast showcases the VF 5, VF e34, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9 models, ranging from A-SUV to E-SUV. Indonesia is the first country where VinFast introduces the reverse steering products. VF 5, VF e34, VF 6, and VF 7, falling within the A to C segments, are expected to be the first models to be launched in the market in the near future.

In Indonesia, VinFast will collaborate with suppliers to develop a nationwide charging network.

Furthermore, under the long-term development strategy in Indonesia, VinFast will build a production facility with a capacity of up to 50,000 electric cars per year. With the goal of achieving a localization rate of up to 40%, the VinFast factory project is expected to create thousands of job opportunities and drive the local electric car industry.

Once in production, Indonesia will also be one of the key links in VinFast’s global electric car supply chain.

About a month before the exhibition, VinFast and Green Smart Mobility (GSM) teamed up with Gojek and plan to invest about USD 900 million in Indonesia. VinFast, GSM, and Gojek have signed an MoU cooperation memorandum in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
