The new iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature Face ID instead of Touch ID, making it the first iPhone SE model to offer facial recognition for unlocking the phone. The OLED 6.1-inch display found on the previous iPhone SE will be replaced with a 4.7-inch LCD display on the iPhone SE 3, with a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

The iPhone SE 4 will be equipped with a USB-C port and a Task button that allows users to choose from 10 tasks that will be activated when pressed. Because of this, the price of the iPhone SE 4 will not be as cheap as its predecessors.
Apple has been raising the prices of its iPhones in recent years. The prices of the previous iPhone SE models at launch were: iPhone SE (2016) starting at $399; iPhone SE 2 (2020) at $399; iPhone SE 3 (2022) at $429. Looking at this trend, it is possible that the iPhone SE 4 will also be more expensive than its predecessor, especially if it has an updated design. However, to attract users, Apple is likely to only slightly increase the price of this phone, up to $499 (about 12.4 million VND).
However, before buying the iPhone SE 4, users need to realize that this phone depreciates faster than traditional iPhone models. For example, the iPhone SE 3, which was released in March 2022, lost 42.6% of its value just one month after its launch. This compares to a 18.7% decrease in value that the iPhone 13 had to endure during the same timeframe. After 3 months of release, the value of the iPhone 13 remained stable while the iPhone SE 3 continued to decline.
With the iPhone SE 3 depreciating significantly faster than the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15, it is not surprising that the iPhone SE 4 will also depreciate quickly.
In 2016, Apple introduced the first iPhone SE, followed by a refreshed model with more storage options in 2017, and then released improved versions in 2020 and 2022. If this 2-year release schedule continues, the iPhone SE 4 will be launched in 2024, possibly even at the end of this month.
However, a report from MacRumors seems to confirm that Apple is indeed working on a new iPhone SE, but analyst Jeff Pu claims that this phone will only be released in 2025.
Another report from the Korean website The Elec confirms this, stating that the production of the new iPhone SE will be delayed until 2025. It seems that Apple is relying entirely on a company called BOE to supply the screen for the iPhone SE 4, and this company is facing “performance issues”. Therefore, we still don’t know the exact timing of the release of the new “affordable iPhone” from Apple.
