Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Hung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Tri province, said that Quang Tri province has agreed in principle to allow the T&T and SK E&S joint venture to research, survey and prepare a profile for converting the Quang Tri thermal power project using coal fuel to using more environmentally friendly fuel, and at the same time determine the goals, scale and investment capital; project implementation progress deadline… This is one of the important contents for the parties to cooperate in developing, urging competent authorities to approve the conversion of the project’s technology from coal fuel to using liquefied natural gas (LNG); propose to update the LNG project into the Implementation Plan of Power Plan VIII and submit it to competent authorities for consideration and approval in order to serve as a basis for implementing the next steps. Previously, within the framework of the Vietnam – Korea Business Forum held in Hanoi in June 2023, T&T Energy (a member of T&T Group Corporation) and SK E&S also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the LNG electricity sector. T&T Energy and SK E&S will cooperate to develop LNG ports and power plants in line with Vietnam’s development orientations and legal regulations.
