This is the second province in the Southern region to approve the investment policy for power transmission projects (the first being Dong Nai).
The goal of the 2 transmission projects is to ensure electricity supply for the load and meet the socio-economic development demand of Tay Ninh in particular (especially the load of Phuoc Dong Industrial Park and neighboring provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong).
The projects also help reduce the load for 500/220kV transformers at existing/under construction 500kV TBAs in Cu Chi, Cau Bong, Duc Hoa, Chon Thanh and existing 220kV lines in the region, enhance electricity supply for existing 220kV TBAs Trang Bang, Tay Ninh, Tay Ninh 2 and the new 220kV Phuoc Dong TBA, contributing to ensuring N-1 criterion.
At the same time, it enhances the stability of the power system, increases reliability, reduces electricity loss, ensures safe electricity supply for the national power system and relieves the capacity of power plants in the Central – Central Highlands region (through the line 500kV Dung Quat – Binh Dinh – Krong Buk – Tay Ninh 1), renewable energy power plants in Tay Ninh province and neighboring provinces.
In Decision 869/QD-UBND, Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee approved the investment policy and the investor, Electricity of Vietnam Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), to implement the 500kV Tay Ninh 1 TBA project and the connection line.
The project has a designed capacity of 1,800MVA with an investment capital of over 2,013 billion VND. Project operating time: 50 years from the date the investor is granted the land lease decision.
500 kV Tay Ninh 1 TBA is built in Don Thuan commune, Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province. The connecting 500kV line passes through the area of Don Thuan commune, Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province. The connecting 220kV line passes through the area of Don Thuan commune, Loc Hung ward, Gia Loc ward of Trang Bang town and Phuoc Dong commune of Go Dau district, Tay Ninh province.
The project is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2025 and be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.
In Decision 870/QD-UBND, Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee approves in principle the investment and approves Electricity of Vietnam Transmission Corporation as the investor to implement the 220kV line project of 500kV TBA Tay Ninh 1 – Phuoc Dong.
The project has a scale of about 4.4 km in length, with a total investment of over 132 billion VND. Project operating time: 50 years from the date the investor is granted the land lease decision.
Project location: Don Thuan commune, Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province. The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
