The economy of Quang Nam province experienced positive growth in the first half of 2024, with a 2.7% increase, ranking 26th out of 63 provinces and cities in the country in terms of GRDP scale. The industry sector showed a strong recovery and growth with a 14.8% increase. Total tourist arrivals and overnight stays reached 4.6 million, an increase of 18%; including a 27% rise in international visitors. The state budget revenue for the first six months of the year stood at VND 12,221 billion, achieving 51.8% of the estimate. Public investment disbursement reached 27.6%, higher than the national average.
Mr. Le Van Dung, Permanent Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Quang Nam, emphasized that the socio-economic situation of Quang Nam province has improved positively but slowly. Some sources of revenue remain low. Currently, many enterprises in the province are facing difficulties, leading to cutbacks in production scales and suspensions of operations, which in turn affect the livelihoods and jobs of workers and employees.
Mr. Dung pointed out the reality of seriously degraded infrastructure in mountainous areas, but the implementation of some projects and programs has lacked urgency and has been prolonged for many years.
“The lack of urgency, avoidance, and failure to fully perform assigned duties and responsibilities by officials, civil servants, and public employees still occur. The rotation of positions for officials, civil servants, and public employees has not been vigorous, mainly taking place within the internal agencies and units. Complaints and denunciations still occur, mainly related to land issues, especially real estate projects, site clearance, and resettlement,” said Le Van Dung.
