On August 18, the Jetour brand under the Chery Group officially announced the Shanhai L6 plug-in hybrid SUV. In the next two years, Jetour plans to launch more new energy vehicles in the Shanhai series, including the L7, TL, T1, and T2, catering to both family and off-road travel needs.

Positioned in the C-segment SUV category, the Jetour Shanhai L6 has dimensions of 4,630 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,684 mm or 1,690 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. These specifications are comparable to the Hyundai Tucson. Its unladen weight ranges from 1,756 kg to 1,796 kg, with approach and departure angles of 19° and 22°, respectively.

The Shanhai L6 stands out from the side view with its Giti tires sized at 255/45 R20, complemented by fluorescent yellow brake calipers. The black roof rails and traditional door handles contribute to the vehicle’s distinctive character.

Up front, the Shanhai L6 borrows design cues from the Jetour Dasheng, featuring a closed-off grille and “inverted hook”-shaped headlights. The main distinction lies in the altered brand logo and the redesigned lower grille.

At the rear, the sleek, connected taillights, along with the electric tailgate and C-DM plug-in hybrid logo, lend a modern and dynamic appearance. The roof is designed with a “floating” effect, following a current trend in Chinese automotive design.

Step inside the Shanhai L6, and you’ll find a host of modern amenities, including a flat-bottom two-spoke steering wheel, a floating central control display, a rectangular dashboard, and a climate control area with an array of physical buttons.

Additional conveniences include a panoramic sunroof, a Sony audio system, power-adjustable front seats, rear air vents, and various smart control functions.

According to information from MIIT China, the Shanhai L6 is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. The gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 154 horsepower, while the electric motor’s power remains undisclosed.

The Jetour Shanhai L6 offers two lithium-ion battery options: a 10.9 kWh pack and a larger 19.43 kWh pack. These batteries enable an all-electric range of 48 km and 91 km, respectively, with a top speed of 180 km/h. Impressively, the vehicle’s combined fuel consumption is an ultra-efficient 1.25 liters per 100 km.

The Shanhai L6 will go head-to-head with competitors such as the Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage, BYD Song Pro DM-i, Changan UNI-Z, Dongfeng Fengshen L7 PHEV, and the Geely Galaxy L7.
