As of early September 2024, surveys show that Yamaha’s scooter model, Janus, is receiving significant discounts at dealerships to attract buyers.

Specifically, at a dealership in the Bac Ninh area, customers will receive a direct discount of VND 4.5 million, along with a scratch-resistant coating package worth VND 650,000 and gifts worth VND 1 million.

Meanwhile, at another dealership in Ho Chi Minh City, the Yamaha Janus is offered with a deeper discount of VND 5 million, bringing the actual price of the scooter to just over VND 23 million.

With these discounts, the Yamaha Janus is now priced competitively with the Honda Wave Alpha. This could be an advantage for Yamaha Janus to surpass Vision in sales performance.

Turning to the Honda Vision, this popular scooter model maintains its attractive price point. The standard version of the Honda Vision starts at just VND 30 million.

The premium, special, and sports versions remain unchanged from the previous month, priced at VND 33 million, VND 35 million, and VND 37 million, respectively. The classic version of the Honda Vision also holds steady at VND 37.5 million.

Depending on the dealership, the Honda Vision may also come with additional gifts such as a 50% discount on accessories or a free helmet. Furthermore, customers have the option to choose from a range of combo gifts, including a VND 500,000 phone card voucher and two sports jet helmets (3/4 head with glass), valued at over VND 800,000; or a Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 smart watch; or a Samsung 20,000 mAh power bank, offered by Honda Vietnam (HVN).

Both the Yamaha Janus and the Honda Vision are considered the “golden eggs” of their respective Japanese manufacturers in the Vietnamese market. This success is attributed to their affordable pricing, ease of use, fuel efficiency, and ability to cater to a diverse range of consumer needs.

While both scooters have compact designs and low seat heights, they differ in their design languages. The Honda Vision boasts a modern design style with neutral lines and colors to appeal to both male and female riders. Its dimensions are 1,871mm in length, 686mm in width, and 1,101mm in height, with a seat height of 761mm and a wheelbase of 1,255mm.

On the other hand, the Yamaha Janus stands out for its dynamic and youthful design, combined with a touch of softness and elegance. Its dimensions are 1,850mm in length, 705mm in width, and 1,120mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,260mm. These dimensions are well-suited for individuals of modest height, especially women, making it easy to maneuver and handle.

Despite being mid-range scooters, both the Honda Vision and the Yamaha Janus are equipped with a host of modern technologies and conveniences that rival those of higher-end models.

Both scooters feature SmartKey technology for effective vehicle location and anti-theft capabilities. However, it’s important to note that this feature is only available on the higher variants of both models and not on their standard versions.

Additionally, both the Janus and Vision models are equipped with halogen headlights and modern LED positioning lights. However, while all variants of the Yamaha Janus come with this feature, the standard version of the Honda Vision does not.

Both scooters also feature a combination of analog and digital instrument clusters, displaying trip distance and fuel consumption. The Janus gains an edge here with the addition of a clock on its instrument panel.

In terms of storage, the Honda Vision offers a larger under-seat compartment with a capacity of 18 liters, compared to the Yamaha Janus’ 14 liters. Honda also includes a convenient charging port for mobile devices.

Powering the 2022 Yamaha Janus is a SOHC engine with a displacement of 125cc, incorporating Blue Core technology. This air-cooled, 4-stroke engine is paired with a VCT CVT transmission and an electronic fuel injection system.

The engine delivers a maximum output of 9.4 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 9.6 Nm at 5,500 rpm. According to the manufacturer, the Janus boasts impressive fuel efficiency, consuming just 1.87 liters of fuel per 100 km.

The 2022 Honda Vision, on the other hand, is equipped with a 109.5cc eSP engine that produces a maximum power of 6.59 kW at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 9.29 Nm at 6,000 rpm. This engine incorporates electronic fuel injection technology and an idle stop system. The Vision’s fuel consumption is rated at 1.88 liters per 100 km.
