On September 10, 2024, Dong Tam Group (DTG) and CS Wind Corporation (CS Wind) officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
Accordingly, Dong Tam will lease 50 hectares of industrial and industrial service land to CS Wind Vietnam for the construction of a manufacturing plant and assembly yard for offshore and onshore wind tower equipment, offshore wind power products such as monopiles, transition pieces, etc., and supply to the global market with a large-scale investment of up to $200 million.
After an in-depth research and study process, CS Wind decided to cooperate closely with DongTam Group to locate the factory in the Dong Nam A Long An Industrial Park, which is part of the 1,935-hectare Long An International Port Project Cluster in Can Giuoc District, Long An Province, developed by Dong Tam.
As per the cooperation agreement, DTG and its member units will lease 50 hectares of industrial and industrial service land to CS Wind Vietnam for the construction of a manufacturing plant and assembly yard for offshore and onshore wind tower equipment, monopiles, transition pieces, and other wind power products, supplying the global market.
This is expected to be the world’s largest wind power equipment manufacturing plant in terms of production capacity at the project establishment, with an initial investment of up to $200 million. The project is expected to have an operating capacity of tens of thousands of units per year, supplying super-long and super-heavy equipment ranging from 500 to 4,000 tons per unit. Notably, 100% of the equipment and accessories in the first phase will be imported and exported through the Long An International Port, estimated at 150,000 to 200,000 tons/year.
“We are very pleased to have a reputable corporation like CS Wind invest in the Dong Nam A Long An Industrial Park. Once the factory is operational, the equipment produced here will be conveniently exported to other countries through the Long An International Port. This further emphasizes the attractive investment conditions of Long An Province in the eyes of international investors. We also commit to creating the most favorable conditions for secondary investors throughout the project implementation process,” shared Mr. Vo Quoc Thang, Chairman of Dongtam Group.
Established in 1984 in South Korea, CS Wind is a leading corporation in the production of wind towers for the world’s largest wind power generators. In 2003, CS Wind established its first wind tower manufacturing plant in Vietnam. This core factory in Southeast Asia has accessed markets in Asia, the South Pacific, and the United States, quickly becoming the world’s top corporation in wind tower production. CS Wind operates manufacturing facilities in eight countries, including Vietnam, the United States, and Denmark.
Currently, CS Wind supplies more than 13,000 wind towers to leading wind turbine manufacturers worldwide, such as Vestas, Siemens-Gamesa, GE, and Goldwind, solidifying its position in the global renewable energy industry.
The Dong Tam brand was established in 1969 in Vietnam, focusing on construction materials production and trading, as well as interior and exterior decoration. The company is chaired by Mr. Vo Quoc Thang. In its 55 years in the market and 20 years of investment and infrastructure leasing, Dong Tam has continuously expanded its business scope, manufacturing facilities, and warehouses nationwide, particularly in the construction materials sector. The company has also invested in port development and provided comprehensive logistics services, along with venturing into other potential fields.
According to the Long An Province master plan for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050, Long An aims to establish ten logistics centers to promote economic exchange between the province and other provinces in the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta. Among them, the Long An International Port, located within the 1,935-hectare project cluster invested by Dongtam Group, has commenced operations. The port is developed following a modern model, integrating an industrial park, an industrial service area, and an urban area.
The Long An International Port not only boosts investment attraction and the development of industrial parks and clusters in the province but also contributes to reducing traffic congestion and relieving pressure on the port system in Ho Chi Minh City. It optimizes logistics costs, reduces risks, and indirectly increases the competitiveness of enterprises, meeting the growing import and export demands of the Mekong Delta region and promoting the socio-economic development of the area.
