The People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa province recently held a conference to discuss the Proposal for the Development of Agricultural Tourism in Thanh Hoa province by 2030.
At the conference, according to the assessment of the consulting unit, Thanh Hoa province has a rich natural tourism resource – natural landscape in the agricultural and rural areas, with unique beauty and distribution according to different geographical regions and agricultural areas.
Along with this, the cultural tourism resource – agricultural production activities in rural areas such as craft villages, cultural and spiritual relics; villages and hamlets associated with the cultural values of traditional agricultural production of ethnic minority fellows; cultural festivals associated with beliefs and community culture are also very unique and diverse. Along with the advantage of geographical location and the ability to connect with other tourist routes in the province and region, it is very favorable for the development and expansion of agricultural tourism.
However, according to the proposal’s evaluation, the reality of local agricultural tourism still faces several limitations, such as not yet forming a separate product line on the tourism map and lacking prominent and characteristic agricultural tourism products.
Some newly built agricultural products of the province only meet the basic needs of tourists; craft village production activities are still on a household scale, with limited market reach; the quality of human resources, especially foreign language skills, remains inadequate; and the province has not yet attracted investors with strong potential to exploit these advantages…
With the goal of promoting the development of agricultural tourism, in association with promoting the potential and advantages of agriculture, craft villages, culture, and ecological environment of the locality, contributing to the shift of the agricultural economic structure towards multi-value, the proposal sets a target that by 2030, the agricultural tourism sector will welcome 1.1 million visitors, including 13,000 international visitors.
The total revenue from agricultural tourism in Thanh Hoa by 2030 is expected to reach VND 741 billion, employing 9,000 workers in agricultural tourism activities, with 80% of agricultural tourism sites digitized; successfully developing 6 main product lines at 29 tourist sites, including agriculture-linked tourism, community tourism, eco-tourism, traditional craft villages, resorts, and historical and spiritual sites…
The proposal also directs the development of agricultural tourism in 5 spatial areas: Western Mountainous Area, Southern Mountainous Area, Central Region of the Province, Northern Development Area, and Coastal and Delta Area in the East.
Along with this, the proposal also identifies 3 agricultural tourism routes, including intra-regional, intra-provincial linked, and inter-provincial linked routes; investment orientation for the development of tourist sites, and 8 groups of solutions for development, with a total proposed implementation cost of more than VND 181 billion.
At the meeting, representatives of departments, branches, and localities basically agreed with the goals, orientations, and solutions proposed in the proposal. Especially, localities with potential for agricultural tourism such as Thanh Hoa city and districts of Thuong Xuan, Ba Thuoc, and Ha Trung… hope that this will be a “guiding” proposal, creating opportunities for localities to exploit their potential in agricultural tourism.
Departments, branches, and localities also suggested supplementing some advantageous products and proposed additional orientations on scale and clear definition of the functions of units responsible for organization and implementation.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa province, evaluated that this is a difficult proposal, however, the detailed and meticulous research and construction of the proposal’s contents have opened up specific development orientations for Thanh Hoa’s agricultural tourism.
Mr. Thi requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the consulting unit to absorb and supplement the products with potential for development into advantageous tourist products as proposed by the localities, including more specific orientations on characteristic products, building models of agricultural tourism sites that maintain natural architecture and are associated with experiential activities; digitizing data of tourist sites and developing communication channels to promote and reach customers…
