The Tet holiday season is upon us, and the market is buzzing with an array of unique and exotic plants. In Van Giang, Hung Yen, thousands of citrus trees line both sides of Provincial Road 379, captivating passersby with their beauty.

Among them, the ancient and giant grapefruit trees at Hoang Chinh Garden stand out, with prices reaching hundreds of millions of dong. Mr. Hoang Dinh Chinh shared that he is offering over a hundred of these “masterpieces” to the market, catering to the wealthy who wish to celebrate Tet in style.

Mr. Chinh proudly presents one of his most remarkable trees, displayed at the entrance of his garden. He asserts that this grapefruit tree is a true “masterpiece” and one of the most beautiful in Northern Vietnam.

“I estimate this grapefruit tree to be over a hundred years old, given its massive trunk,” he says. “Standing at a height of 5 meters with a 6-meter-wide canopy, it currently bears over 500 fruits.”

Mr. Chinh has aptly named this tree “Family Home” due to its abundant fruits, sturdy trunk, and expansive canopy that resembles a cozy roof.

Over five years ago, Mr. Chinh purchased this tree for 200 million dong. Since then, he has been meticulously caring for and shaping it. Initially, it bore grapefruit, but he gradually grafted it to produce Dien grapefruit, a variety known for its golden hue.

Currently, Mr. Chinh is commissioning artisans to create a stone and miniature landscape beneath the tree. He shares that this tree is the most expensive in his garden, priced at 800 million dong.

The second most expensive tree is named “The Roots of Homeland.” This tree resembles a banyan tree with its wide canopy, lush green leaves, and golden fruits. It is a rare and laborious feat to possess such a magnificent grapefruit tree.

Standing at a height of 4.5 meters with a 4-meter-wide canopy, this tree bears around 200 fruits, all of which are naturally grown.

Mr. Chinh is offering this tree for sale at a price of 650 million dong.
