Largest number of bills presented in the 7th parliamentary session, says National Assembly Chairman

On February 22nd, at the opening speech of the session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly, Vương Đình Huệ, stated that this regular session is expected to take place in one day, to consider, gather opinions, and decide on 5 main issues.

With the Amendment to the Archives Law being one of a total of 9 projects under discussion at the 6th session and expected to be passed at the upcoming 7th session. Immediately after the 6th session, the agencies have closely cooperated to carefully revise the draft law. The leadership of the National Assembly recommended that the delegates focus on giving additional opinions on the most important issues of the draft law.

Besides institutionalizing the Party’s principles and related resolutions, it is necessary to continue reviewing the draft laws in order to inherit the current provisions that are still applicable; amend and supplement the shortcomings identified during the summary process; at the same time, add new issues, especially strong provisions on decentralization and empowerment, while still ensuring concentration, unity, connectivity, and sharing.

“We do not just archive for the sake of archiving, but archiving is goal-oriented, while also promoting digital transformation in this matter”, Chairman of the National Assembly noted, at the same time, emphasizing the content of effectively utilizing all resources and promoting the socialization of archives.

Regarding the draft law on amending and supplementing certain provisions of the Security Law, which was amended in 2017, and the urgent need to amend and supplement it in order to institutionalize the resolutions of the Central Committee and the Politburo, specify the Constitution, and overcome some shortcomings in practical activities.

Also at the session, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee will consider the Report of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate on the supplementary appointment of the number of Procurators of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.

Reviewing the voluntary work report of the National Assembly for January 2024 (including the voluntary work in December 2023).

At the same time, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee will consolidate the unusual 5th session of the 15th tenure of the National Assembly, evaluate the significance of this session with the passage of two very important draft laws, which are the Land Law and the Credit Institutions Law.

The Chairman of the National Assembly said that the preparation for the upcoming July session has a very heavy workload, with the drafts of laws that the National Assembly must give opinions and pass being the largest since the beginning of the term so far, while the remaining time is not much.

Specifically, at the 7th session, the National Assembly is expected to pass 9 draft laws and a number of other resolutions; at the same time, to gather opinions on 12 draft laws. In addition to the regular session in March, there will also be a thematic session to gather opinions on related contents.
