Prime Minister requests state-owned businesses to reorganize and streamline operations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on state-owned enterprises to modernize their business management models to align with international standards. He emphasized the need for restructuring and streamlining operations to enhance competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

The Prime Minister has just issued Directive No. 07/CT-TTg dated February 22, 2024, on renewing management, enhancing the effectiveness of production and business, and promoting strong investment and development by state-owned conglomerates and enterprises (SOEs).

In the Directive, the Prime Minister has requested SOEs to continue to play a pioneering role in the economy, ensuring that SOEs are the leading force in the areas of innovation, digital transformation, and economic recovery.

SOEs should prioritize allocating resources to their core business sectors, addressing the issues of scattered and inefficient investments, enhancing innovative capacity, modernizing the corporate governance model in line with international practices, streamlining the organizational structure, and improving competitiveness in the domestic and international markets.

For SOEs currently investing in infrastructure construction and major transportation projects, the Prime Minister has requested accelerating progress, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety, and making contributions to achieving the objectives of the 13th National Party Congress, striving to complete over 3,000 km of expressways by 2025 and over 5,000 km by 2030, and accelerating the progress of projects such as the Belt and Road 4 of the capital region and the Belt and Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Viettel Group, VNPT, and Mobifone will continue to promote investment and development projects and universalize traditional telecommunications infrastructure to digital infrastructure, develop data center and cloud computing infrastructure, digital technology infrastructure and digital platforms, use digital applications to drive digital economic development, and take a leading role and be at the forefront of researching emerging technologies such as semiconductor chip.

Vietnam Electricity Group will expedite the implementation of the 500kV Line 3 projects from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen) and strive to put it into operation in June 2024.

EVN, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group, and their subsidiaries will promptly and effectively implement the National Power Development Master Plan for the period of 2021-2030, vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII) as regulated, ensuring national energy security, supplying sufficient electricity for production, business, and people’s consumption.

PetroVietnam and other SOEs engaged in the oil and gas business will enhance their ability to forecast global market price fluctuations, proactively devise plans to ensure the supply of petroleum for the economy, and minimize the adverse effects of world oil price fluctuations.
