According to the Ninh Binh Provincial Police, in early 2020, Vũ Ngọc Tý exploited his alleged family ties to high-ranking officials of the Government and central ministries and departments, thereby acquiring 6.8 hectares of valuable land in Đông Thành Ward, Ninh Binh City.

Using this tactic, Tý asked Mr. L.H.Th. (residing in Tân Thành Ward, Ninh Binh City) to provide VND 5.6 billion for “diplomatic” purposes and tax payment, promising in return to give Mr. Th. 1.5 hectares of land.

Mistrusting Vũ Ngọc Tý, Mr. Th. transferred money on multiple occasions totaling up to VND 8.2 billion. Afterwards, Tý provided Mr. Th. with 4 fake land use certificates. Realizing he had been deceived, Mr. Th. reported the incident to the police.

According to the Ninh Binh Provincial Police, Vũ Ngọc Tý is currently serving a suspended sentence of 36 months with a probation period of 60 months (starting from May 27, 2022) for the charge of “Fraudulently appropriating assets”.

Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by the Ninh Binh Provincial Police.
