“Our CEO Jensen Huang said we should go back to Vietnam and grow our business there. And we did“, shared Keith Strier, NVIDIA’s Vice President of Global Artificial Intelligence Initiatives, on the sidelines of the strategic cooperation event with FPT.
In December 2023, when Nvidia’s leadership first visited Vietnam, the company had a market capitalization of $1,200 billion. For this second visit, the market capitalization of the world’s largest chipmaker has reached nearly $2,000 billion.
According to the cooperation agreement, the two sides foresee the establishment of a $200 million AI Factory, the training of highly skilled personnel, and the creation of a Service Delivery Partner within Nvidia’s partner network.
The advantages of a chopstick-using nation and Mr. Truong Gia Binh’s ‘AI Nation’ dream
Calling Nvidia a “remarkable company”, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh declared his recognition of the tremendous future that lies ahead and FPT’s eagerness to be a part of it. FPT aspires to lead alongside NVIDIA in developing solutions, modeling, and collaboration across various sectors, including education, manufacturing, healthcare, and others.
“25 years ago, FPT envisioned exporting software, dreaming of turning Vietnam into an “IT Nation”. Today, Vietnam boasts 1% of its population, roughly 1 million people, working in the IT sector, providing services to global clientele.”
“Today, we nurture an even grander dream: the ‘AI Nation’, with 3-5% of our population working in the AI sector,” said Mr. Binh.
The FPT Chairman also outlined three justifications for the “AI Nation” ambition.
Firstly, Vietnam currently has 1% of its population employed in the IT industry.
Mr. Binh also took pride in the unique qualities of the “chopstick-using nation” – people who are eager to learn and passionate about technology.
“The Vietnamese are now full of ambition, carrying the dream of a better life with them. We are not afraid of challenges or hardships,” said Mr. Binh.
Secondly, Vietnam has stepped onto the world stage. Vietnamese businesses now deliver IT solutions and services globally.
“NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that if we transition the current 1% of our population working in IT to an AI workforce, we will become a nation with a significant advantage. I would like to add another 2%, bringing the total to 3 million individuals working in the AI sector,” Mr. Binh explained.
Thirdly, FPT has placed its trust in the future with Nvidia, seeking to transform Vietnam while making a global impact.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh acknowledges Nvidia’s AI technology as transformative across all aspects of life, from work to even gaming. FPT is investing in super AI computing platforms, research and development, workforce development, solutions, and services to unlock immense value and shape a brighter future.
Regarding FPT’s long-term AI development strategy, Mr. Binh stated that the initial step is to cultivate a highly skilled technological workforce.
Following the partnership agreement with Nvidia, FPT intends to incorporate Nvidia’s training content into the regular curriculum of the Group’s university and high schools, fostering a technologically advanced workforce. The Group aims to provide access to this program for at least 30,000 students within a five-year timeframe.
“FPT sets its sights on serving at least 50% of Vietnamese citizens and over 300 million global citizens, integrating AI into all of its solutions and services,” said Mr. Binh.
AI is also one of the five keywords that Mr. Binh identifies as “historically defining for humanity in the last three-quarters of a century and continuing to shape the remaining quarter.” The five keywords he identified are Intelligence (AI), Semiconductors, Electric Vehicles, Digital Transformation, and Green Transformation.
In FPT’s 2023 Annual Report, Mr. Truong Gia Binh affirmed: “The coming years will be a milestone for FPT in the field of AI“.
In 2024, FPT plans to invest heavily in developing the new infrastructure for the era of artificial intelligence – the NVIDIA AI Supercomputer System – to obtain tens of thousands of certifications in artificial intelligence; to become a global integration partner of NVIDIA; to establish a joint autonomous driving laboratory with Andrew Ng. AI will permeate all of FPT’s products and services.
Generative AI solutions (such as AI Mentor, ChatbotGPT…), and visual AI (LandingLens) developed with industry-specific orientation provide a distinct advantage to the suite of Made by FPT products and to all of FPT’s customers.
