The “Connecting Lao Cai – Thailand” seminar, held on the afternoon of August 28 at the Lao Cai Conference Center, attracted the participation of more than 100 delegates, including leaders from departments, sectors, and localities, as well as businesses from Lao Cai province. The event was also attended by representatives from various offices and departments of the Thai Embassy in Vietnam, along with Thai agencies, organizations, businesses, and investors, both domestic and from Thailand, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Lao Cai, and Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam, chaired the seminar.

This seminar was one of the important events within the framework of the “Meet Thailand” Conference, held for the second time in Lao Cai on August 28-29. The conference was jointly organized by the People’s Committee of Lao Cai province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Thai Embassy in Vietnam.

IDEAL TIMING FOR THAI BUSINESSES TO EXPAND INVESTMENT AND COOPERATION WITH LAO CAI

In her speech at the seminar, Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya highlighted the long-standing bond between Vietnam and Thailand in economic and cultural fields over the years. “Lao Cai province plays a crucial role in the road transport route between the two countries, and the organization of the ‘Connecting Lao Cai – Thailand’ seminar presents an opportunity to enhance cooperation in logistics and international trade,” said Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya.

In fact, for many years, Lao Cai province has had numerous opportunities to cooperate and exchange with Thailand, thanks to the attention and support from the Thai Embassy. At the same time, the Thai Embassy has actively facilitated connections between Thai partners and businesses with Lao Cai.

Especially on August 14, 2024, during her visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, along with the Royal Thai delegation, visited Lao Cai. This marked an important milestone, demonstrating Thailand’s interest in Lao Cai province and affirming its commitment to promoting cooperation between the two sides.

“We view this as an ideal time for Thai businesses to explore and expand investment and economic cooperation with Lao Cai. At the same time, this event will help promote the image of Lao Cai province in Thailand and vice versa, allowing Lao Cai to learn more about Thailand,” said Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya.

Additionally, the Ambassador shared that Lao Cai province has always facilitated Thai businesses and expressed her confidence that many Thai companies would not hesitate to invest in a province with such potential as Lao Cai in the future.

On behalf of Lao Cai province, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh emphasized the province’s readiness to welcome investors, with the motto “business prosperity means Lao Cai’s development.” Lao Cai always keeps its doors open to investors and commits to accompanying them, considering the success of businesses as the province’s success.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Lao Cai also underlined their determination to create the most favorable conditions to realize the ideas and development goals of investors. “I believe that Thai investors will reap worthy benefits when investing and doing business in Lao Cai,” said Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh.

ENHANCING COOPERATION IN STRATEGIC AREAS

During the seminar, Thai and Lao Cai businesses discussed cooperation opportunities between the two sides’ companies and enterprises in various fields. They emphasized the strategic role of Lao Cai province in economics and logistics, key investment fields, preferential policies for clean energy investors, and the Thai government’s preferential policies for Vietnamese enterprises and Lao Cai province’s businesses in Thailand.

Lao Cai province’s businesses also look forward to support and promotion from Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya to facilitate Thai businesses’ investment in Lao Cai and assist Lao Cai enterprises in cooperating with Thai businesses.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Lao Cai, in the future, the province will continue to strengthen cooperative relations with Thai partners, aiming for concrete and practical results. This will contribute to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

In this context, the business communities of both sides are expected to maximize their advantages to promote connectivity and comprehensive cooperation in numerous fields. “The province anticipates significant strides in cooperation in key sectors such as tourism, trade, manufacturing industry, and high-tech agriculture. This coordination will not only enhance the economic relationship between the two sides but also contribute to the sustainable and comprehensive development of both regions,” said Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh.

At the same time, Lao Cai province affirms its determination to cooperate vigorously with Thai investors in the most convenient and amicable manner and quickly connect with Thai businesses in Lao Cai. This will contribute not only to the promotion of economic cooperation but also serve as a solid foundation for the long-term and sustainable partnership between Lao Cai and Thailand and between the two nations.
