Hongqi New Energy, a subsidiary brand of Hongqi – nicknamed “Rolls-Royce” of China – has announced that the Hongqi EH7 electric sedan will be launched on March 20th. Hongqi is a premium brand owned by FAW, founded in 1959.

Last year, Hongqi launched the “All in New Energy” campaign to promote the electrification of all its models. Specifically, in the next 3 years, Hongqi New Energy plans to launch 15 new models using new energy sources, including all segments from A, B, C, and D, as well as SUVs and MPVs.

Regarding the exterior, the front of the car is enclosed and features sleek L-shaped headlights on both sides. Other notable design elements include hidden door handles, 5-spoke wheels combined with red Brembo brakes, and a panoramic sunroof.

The taillights are composed of 285 LED clusters and emit a three-dimensional effect when illuminated.

Positioned as a mid-size to large sedan, the new model has dimensions of 4980/1915/1490 mm and a wheelbase length of 3000 mm. In addition, consumers can choose from a total of 6 exterior colors including green, purple, silver, gray, white, and black.

Inside, the cabin uses a contrasting black/white color scheme, combined with a dual-curved 6-inch + 15.5-inch display for the instrument cluster and center control screen, equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.

The Hongqi EH7 will have two versions: rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and front/rear-wheel-drive (AWD), along with a three-level lithium battery pack supplied by CATL. Previous reports from Chinese media stated the respective operating ranges as 760 km and 820 km. In the future, there will also be interchangeable battery variants and long-range fast charging with a range of up to 800 km.

The RWD version is equipped with a single electric motor with a maximum power of 253 horsepower, while the AWD version is equipped with front and rear dual motors with respective maximum powers of 202 horsepower and 252 horsepower. Furthermore, the RWD version will have a top speed of 190 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

The d1ev website reported that the car’s starting price is $29,100, equivalent to about 717 million VND. It is expected to be available on the market starting from 2024, and the EH7 is Hongqi’s new trump card in leading the electric vehicle revolution.
