In the meeting, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung revealed that 2024 will be the year Vietnam commercializes 5G nationwide. This is the time when the device prices have significantly decreased compared to four years ago, and Vietnamese network operators can also learn from the experiences of international operators who have deployed 5G.
Meanwhile, 5G devices introduced to the Vietnamese market need to be standardized and meet international cybersecurity requirements.
In addition, the Ministry of Information and Communications also encourages technology corporations such as Huawei to cooperate in training ICT human resources with Vietnam’s universities, including the Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, the leading university in training ICT human resources.
To maximize the effectiveness of 5G networks, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung suggested that Huawei share experiences on new business models and use cases of 5G applications in countries where Huawei is operating.
With 26 years of operating in Vietnam, Senior Vice President and Chairman of Huawei Asia Pacific, Binh Phong Lam expressed his desire to support Vietnam in commercializing 5G.
Huawei is one of the leading technology corporations in 5G research. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Binh Phong Lam said that Huawei can organize conferences and workshops to share successful experiences in deploying 5G globally. The corporation will also connect with network operators around the world to share with Vietnam.
Notably, Huawei’s Vice President proposed to establish a 5G Innovation Center in Vietnam to introduce 5G testing standards and labs, and support digital human resources training. The goal of the Innovation Center is to foster a 5G ecosystem, generate revenue from 5G after building the 5G network, and improve people’s lives. Huawei aims to bring its global experience in building 5G to Vietnam to help establish the best 5G network in the shortest time.
