In a recent financial report, the Russian automotive group AVTOVAZ shared the sales figures for the month of April. Among the brands under the AVTOVAZ umbrella, Lada witnessed a striking increase of 64.8% in sales, with a total of 45,551 units sold, a growth never seen in the past 12 years by AVTOVAZ.

The report highlights Lada Granta as the best-selling model, accounting for 46.6% of the brand’s sales with 21,429 units sold, marking the highest volume in the model’s history. This achievement has solidified Lada Granta’s position as the best-selling car in the AVTOVAZ group.

Lada Granta has been a top-selling car in Russia for many years.

The Lada Granta is a B-segment sedan, comparable to vehicles like the KIA Soluto and Mazda2 available in Vietnam. Apart from its sedan body, the Granta has also been produced in Liftback and Hatchback variants.

As the most affordable model from Lada, the Granta is jointly developed with Renault of France and has been in production since December 2011. Before the conflict with Ukraine, the Lada Granta consistently topped the sales charts in Russia during the period of 2013 and 2015.

Alongside the Granta, Lada is preparing to bring a brand-new SUV, named Iskra, into production. The vehicle is slated to feature a high level of domestic production, reaching 80%. According to Avtovaz President Maxim Sokolov, the Lada Iskra is scheduled to commence production in early 2025. He further added that the group aims to increase localization of vehicle components by several dozen in the near future.

This move signifies Lada’s commitment to boost the capabilities of the Russian automotive industry, especially in the wake of major automakers leaving the country due to the conflict in Ukraine. This departure has created a significant void in the market that Chinese automakers are striving to fill.

As part of Lada’s development strategy for 2030, the brand aims to maintain its leadership position in the Russian automotive market. To achieve this, Lada plans to launch 12 all-new models across various segments and engage in numerous collaborative projects.

In May 2024, Lada intends to start production of the combustion engine-powered version of the Largus at the Izhevsk plant. Meanwhile, the electric e-Largus is scheduled to enter production in the third quarter of 2024.

Lada’s roadmap also reveals that the Aura sedan will commence production in September, with the Niva Sport SUV slated for release by the end of the year. In 2025, Lada will expand its Niva lineup with the Niva Travel and Niva Legend, both powered by 1.8-liter combustion engines.
