For the first time in Vietnam, a unique program was organized that combined a series of team-building activities, a music festival, and camping into a 24-hour non-stop event, creating unforgettable experiences and setting new records for over 3200 FPT IS employees. This event not only emphasized the impressive corporate culture of the FPT Group’s member company but also served as a unique way to create new values within the enterprise in the context of business transformation.
Specifically, the 3200 employees were divided into more than 30 teams, participating in a chain of over 50 challenges before and during the 24-hour event, including a running competition, music MV creation, extreme sensation games, water park challenges, and team-building activities. Each team leader was responsible for managing their team like a startup company, connecting members from different departments and following the rules and scoring system.
Due to its large scale and unprecedented complexity, all activities, information, and interactions were managed through a dedicated event app – FIS 30 The Next, developed by the FPT IS team. Real-time ranking updates of teams and individuals created a thrilling and competitive atmosphere throughout the program.
“Raising professional standards” was a crucial keyword throughout the event and a core value that FPT IS aims to instill in its business culture. “Professionalism in every action will be the guiding principle for FPT IS to effectively accompany our clients in the domestic market and conquer the ‘world-class’ standard as we venture globally,” shared Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, CEO of FPT IS. The company is currently focusing on developing markets in Japan, Malaysia, and Indonesia and investing in its employees’ global mindset and capabilities through specialized training programs, skill enhancement, and language proficiency to prepare for the new phase.
“Semiconductor chips, AI, green transformation, and FPT IS-made products and services are creating opportunities for FPT IS to contribute to Vietnam’s change, impacting millions of lives. We will also take these capabilities to the global market,” said Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, expressing his ambition to over 3200 FPT IS employees.
On this new journey, the FPT IS leadership and its employees shouted out their new mission: “Co-create the Next,” signifying their transition from a technology solutions and services provider to a comprehensive partner, accompanying their clients on their development journeys and co-creating the future.
“FPT IS firmly believes that technology will create ‘The Next’ of the world, bringing superior values and leading to a more modern, higher-quality, and happier life. We are committed to accompanying our clients in tackling critical issues, becoming leaders, and co-creating ‘The Next,’ affirmed the FPT IS leadership.
The 30-year journey has witnessed significant shifts for FPT IS, based on inheriting historical values and adapting to market contexts. The context of its establishment entrusted FPT IS with an important mission: to bring information technology to serve the operations of vital industries, and from there, the opportunity to participate and lead the development of national systems became FPT IS’s competitive advantage.
In 2007, at a client conference, Mr. Do Cao Bao, former Chairman of FPT IS, shared his concern: “FPT IS aspires to be the general contractor for large projects. We don’t want to be subcontractors; we want to affirm that the intelligence of Vietnamese enterprises can fully meet the requirements of large domestic technology projects.” This statement further elevated FPT IS’s position in the market, even though it had already been a distinct unit compared to its competitors. In 2008, FPT IS became the general contractor for the first time, undertaking the project to provide the Personal Income Tax (PIT) Management Application System for the General Department of Taxation, valued at 14.5 million USD. This was followed by large-scale and record-breaking management systems for Petrolimex, the Financial Switching System, and technology systems for major banks such as Vietcombank, BIDV, and Agribank, as well as critical national systems for Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Myanmar. These achievements became a source of pride for FPT IS and FPT as a whole. The capability to execute large-scale, complex, and nationally significant projects became the “gene” of FPT IS, evident in recent initiatives like the 100-day rescue of the HoSE trading floor and the pioneering promotion of the D06 scheme across various fields.
The next significant shift occurred five years ago with the “New Day” event, where nearly 3000 employees marched and welcomed the sunrise on the beach in Canh Duong. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, CEO of FPT IS, called for the development of Made by FPT IS products, marking a new phase for the company in the context of market demand. FPT IS’s deep understanding of the operational challenges in various industries spurred the creation of innovative Make in Vietnam technology solutions rather than relying solely on vendor-provided ones. The Made by FPT IS products were developed based on practical problems and customer needs, riding the waves of market trends. They have earned the trust of over 3000 customers, rivaling international-quality products, and comprehensively serving the banking, enterprise, government, and healthcare sectors. In 2023, the revenue from FPT IS products reached 1300 billion VND, affirming the right vision regarding strategy and the approach to instilling a new spirit among FPT IS employees.
The “The Next” event marked another milestone in the new phase, built upon the foundation of 30 years of valued heritage. With these important foundations and internal readiness, FPT IS aspires to continue making its mark in the next technology wave in Vietnam and globally, as a trusted partner for businesses and organizations exploring the power of technology.
