The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center has predicted an increase in passenger travel during the National Day holiday on September 2nd and the Nghinh Ong Can Gio Festival in 2024 compared to the previous year.

Specifically, at Binh Khanh ferry, which connects Nha Be and Can Gio districts, an average of 188 ferry trips per day is expected, serving approximately 32,600 passengers. There is also a predicted 10% increase in passengers opting for public transport, especially bus services, to Can Gio district, amounting to 3,000 passengers per day.

As for Tan Son Nhat International Airport, a daily average of 130,000 passengers is anticipated, reflecting an 8% increase compared to the previous year.

Additionally, the Center forecasts a daily average of 83,600 passengers at inter-provincial bus stations, served by 3,059 bus trips, marking an 18% increase in passenger volume. It is estimated that bus ridership will peak on August 31st and September 3rd, with approximately 15,000 passengers per day.

Bus routes with a significant number of students and pupils are expected to experience a decrease in ridership of about 5-10% compared to regular days.

Details of Bus Route Adjustments in Ho Chi Minh City

Based on the predicted travel demands during the National Day holiday (from August 31st to September 3rd) and the Nghinh Ong Can Gio Festival (from September 16th to 18th), the Center has categorized bus routes in the city into six groups, with adjustments made to ensure smooth travel for passengers:

Bus Routes Connecting to Can Gio District

: The Public Transport Management Center will increase bus trips, especially on routes 77 and 90, to meet the travel demands of residents traveling to and from Can Gio district.

Bus Routes Connecting to Tan Son Nhat Airport

As the public transport system, particularly bus services, has adequately met the travel demands of passengers to and from Tan Son Nhat Airport, bus routes connecting to the airport are required to adhere to the specified parameters and schedules issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and the Center to ensure efficient service for travelers.

Bus Routes Connecting to Mien Dong Bus Station and Other Inter-provincial Bus Stations

For the subsidized bus routes 76, 93, and 150: the operating units of these routes must ensure compliance with the specified parameters and schedules to serve the travel needs of residents traveling between Mien Dong Bus Station and various districts in the city, as well as to assist in passenger dispersal at the bus stations.

Regarding bus routes 55 and 56: due to a high proportion of students and pupils using these routes (approximately 50-55% of total passengers), the Center will reduce the number of trips per day by 30 to 40. Specifically, route 55 (from Quang Trung Software City to Mien Dong Bus Station) will be reduced from 190 to 150 trips per day, and route 56 (from Cho Lon Bus Station to University of Transport) will be adjusted from 210 to 170 trips per day. These changes will be effective from September 1st to 2nd.

For bus routes connecting to Mien Dong Old Bus Station: the subsidized bus routes 43 and 45, which also have a high volume of student passengers, will be reduced by 20-24 trips per day. Specifically, there will be 88 fewer trips on these two routes from September 1st to 2nd.

As for bus routes connecting to An Suong Bus Station: the subsidized routes 4, 27, 65, and 104, which cater to a significant number of students and pupils, will be adjusted with a reduction of 20-68 trips per day. This translates to 328 fewer trips on these four routes from September 1st to 2nd.

Bus routes operating from and to Mien Tay Bus Station will maintain their current operational parameters to serve the travel needs of passengers.

Bus Routes with Reduced Ridership during the National Day Holiday

Based on passenger volume data from previous National Day holidays, the Center has identified eight bus routes (numbers 1, 6, 8, 31, 36, 53, 59, and 72) that experience decreased ridership during this period. As a result, adjustments will be made to the number of trips per day to align with passenger demands, resulting in a total reduction of 588 trips on these routes.

Bus Routes to be Temporarily Suspended

: During the National Day holiday, from August 31st to September 3rd, the subsidized bus routes 50 and 52, which directly serve Bach Khoa University and International University, will temporarily cease operations.

Other Bus Routes

: The Center will maintain the current operational parameters of the remaining bus routes to ensure stability and meet the travel demands of passengers.
