On February 16 (the 7th day of Lunar New Year), PLO observed trading activities at some markets in Ho Chi Minh City such as Ba Hoa Market (Tan Binh District) and Tan Phu 1 Market (Tan Phu District) were not bustling with shoppers.

Influx of goods in the market gradually increased

Some vendors were still on holiday for Tet, and the variety of products sold at the stalls was not as diverse as usual. Therefore, depending on the sellers, prices of vegetables, pork, and fruits have decreased in some places compared to before Tet, while in some places, prices are still high.

Some retail systems have been open to serve the people since the 2nd day of Tet, and until now, they continue to launch programs to stimulate consumer demand.

Accordingly, in addition to reducing prices for over 1,000 essential items, customers who spend 500,000 VND or more at 800 retail locations nationwide, such as Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food,… will receive lucky money in the form of shopping vouchers worth up to 100,000 VND.

At the same time, in order to serve the need for detoxification after the Tet holiday, the Saigon Co.op retail system has increased the production of vegetarian food by 30% compared to normal months, with prices reduced by 10%-30%.

The GO!, Big C supermarkets of Central Retail nationwide will implement the program “Always low prices”. Many items such as fresh local seafood, imported seafood, fruits, and vegetables will be discounted by 28%-33%…

According to the Ministry of Finance through reports from the Provincial Finance Departments affiliated to the Central Government; through monitoring the market situation before and during Tet, prices have not shown any unusual fluctuations.

According to the annual pattern, on the 1st and 2nd day of Tet, there are few trading activities, so prices remain stable. Food and flower prices may increase locally at local markets during the remaining Tet days. After Tet, especially after the 15th day of the first lunar month, prices will gradually return to normal.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the reduced consumer demand and limited purchasing power since 2023 until now have contributed to the stable prices due to abundant supply.

However, the ministry has proposed that relevant units continue to implement synchronous tasks related to market price management, operation, and stabilization before, during, and after Tet.
