High discipline among officials in managing construction work in District 1, HCMC

Regarding the accountability of officials in state management, the leadership of Binh Tan district has announced that a disciplinary board has been established. As a result, disciplinary actions have been taken against four officials, including former officials from Tan Tao ward, involved in the incident.

On March 1, Mr. Vu Chi Kien – Deputy Chairman of Binh Tan District People’s Committee, Ho Chi Minh City announced that recently the district has proactively inspected and detected 129 violations of land at public works areas in Tan Tao ward. These constructions were mostly formed in the period 2015 – 2020.

In 2023, Binh Tan District People’s Committee and Tan Tao ward focused on mobilizing residents to voluntarily dismantle the violating constructions, combined with forced dismantlement of 62 violating constructions. The violated constructions belonged to the planning of public constructions, including educational land planning, green tree and emergency road planning, green park and sports planning.

Regarding the handling of responsibility of relevant officials in the state management work, the Binh Tan district’s leadership said that the district has established a disciplinary board to handle the discipline, thereby handling discipline for 4 officials, former officials in Tan Tao ward involved in the case.

Among them, 2 officials were disciplined with a warning (1 former Vice Chairman of the ward has been transferred, 1 Vice Chairman of the ward); 1 former Chairman of the ward (has been transferred) was disciplined with a reprimand and 1 land official was disciplined by dismissal as he was directly in charge of the area but did not timely detect the violations.

The Binh Tan district People’s Committee and Tan Tao ward have also organized many direct contact sessions to mobilize households that commit violations mentioned above. During the mobilization process, the authorities of all levels have provided full information to the households about the strict handling and eradication of the violations of the Binh Tan district’s People’s Committee and the households have also come to realize their violations. Binh Tan district also considers providing temporary accommodation for cases with special difficult circumstances.

In terms of enforcement time, in order to ensure the effectiveness of state management work, Binh Tan district’s viewpoint is to resolutely handle all violations. The district People’s Committee is expected to continue to organize the enforcement of dismantling the remaining violating constructions from March 12 to April 10, 2024.
