In mid-March 2024, Honda Japan announced the first details about the mid-life facelift version of the Honda HR-V. Currently in its 3rd generation, this model was launched in early 2021.

In the facelift version, the exterior of the Honda HR-V has been updated slightly to align with the latest design language. The exterior headlights look similar, but the lighting system has been improved inside to provide beam cutoff and anti-glare capabilities for oncoming traffic.

The most noticeable change on the outside of the Honda HR-V 2024 is the new two-tier taillights. One detail that distinguishes the old and new HR-V is the overall “grille” design on the front.

The taillights are also an element to differentiate between the old HR-V (left) and the new HR-V (right), where the new version features a two-tiered design. This design makes the rear of the HR-V increasingly similar to some Porsche models like the Macan or Cayenne. Photo: Honda

Inside the cabin of the Honda HR-V 2024, some slight changes have been made to improve practicality and convenience. The passenger side now has a wireless phone charging pad located between the central control cluster and the entertainment screen, creating a wider space. In addition, the continuous border of the previous control cluster now extends to the driver’s side, enclosing it.

The powertrain of the Honda HR-V 2024 is likely to remain unchanged, still featuring a 1.5L gasoline engine with 98 horsepower/127 Nm, accompanied by a single electric motor with 109 horsepower/253 Nm.

Additional information about the Honda HR-V facelift will be revealed by the Japanese automaker until the expected sales launch in April.

The latest generation of the Honda HR-V can be confusing for many users. The reason is that in North America, there is a version of the HR-V that is actually unrelated to the HR-V International/Vezel mentioned above. Instead, this model is the international ZR-V. In China, there is also a different HR-V model, produced by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture.
