The Volkswagen Tayron is a 7-seater family SUV that is expected to replace the Tiguan Allspace globally. The design of this vehicle has been revealed both in real life and in “official” images used for copyright registration in China.

The Volkswagen Tayron was previously an exclusive Chinese model, but the second generation shown in the images is confirmed to be the global version replacing the Tiguan Allspace in countries where this variant is available, such as Australia and Vietnam.

According to the specifications published on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Volkswagen Tayron has a length of 4,735 mm, a width of 1,859 mm, and a height of 1,682 mm. Compared to the Tiguan Allspace, the new model is longer by 1 mm, wider by 20 mm, and lower by 6 mm. The wheelbase of the two vehicles is the same at 2,791 mm. Compared to the regular Tiguan, the Tayron is longer by 197 mm, wider by 17 mm, and taller by 43 mm.

The Volkswagen Tayron comes with a default 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, offering two power outputs of 201 and 268 horsepower. Hybrid versions with 1.5L engines producing 129 or 148 horsepower are also expected. These models are temporarily capable of operating purely on electric power for up to 100 km.

The fully updated Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be launched towards the end of 2024 and will be widely available in many countries in 2025.

Currently, Volkswagen is selling the Tiguan Allspace in Vietnam. The trend in 2024 is to import new models from China, such as the Teramont, Teramont X, and Viloran. Therefore, it is possible that this Tayron, originating from China, will replace the Tiguan Allspace in Vietnam in the near future.
