Increase MB’s charter capital to 52.871 trillion after selling 73 million shares to Viettel and SCIC

The Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBBank, HOSE: MBB) has recently announced the result of its private placement of 73 million shares to two investors, namely the Military Industry - Telecommunication Group (Viettel) and the State Capital Investment and Business Corporation (SCIC).

According to the announcement of the sale results, MB distributed 73 million shares to domestic investors at a price of 15,959 VND/share. The net proceeds from the share offering were 1,165 billion VND. The end date of the offering was March 14th, 2024.

In particular, Viettel bought an additional 43 million shares, increasing its ownership ratio from 14.14% (737 million shares) to 14.76% (780 million shares). The total number of shares held by investors and related parties increased to over 1 billion shares (19.073%).

Meanwhile, SCIC bought an additional 30 million shares, increasing its ownership ratio from 9.42% (491 million shares) to 9.86% (521 million shares). The number of shares of MBB held by the group connected to SCIC increased to nearly 523 million shares, equivalent to 9.88%.

These shares are restricted from transfer within 5 years from the completion date of the offering.

After the offering, MB’s charter capital increased from 52,141 billion VND to 52,871 billion VND, ranking 5th in the system (after VPBank, BIDV, Vietcombank, and VietinBank).

Prior to this, MB’s 2023 annual general meeting approved an increase in charter capital from 45,340 billion VND to 53,683 billion VND. This was done through the issuance of 680 million shares to pay a dividend rate of 15%; the issuance of ESOP shares; and the private placement of a total of 135 million shares (divided into two tranches of 65 million shares and 70 million shares) to two investors, Viettel and SCIC.

On the stock market, MBB shares are currently trading around 23,200 VND/share (as of the morning of March 20th), up more than 24% compared to the beginning of the year. The average trading volume is over 22 million shares per day.
