At the ceremony, Mr. Le Cong Thanh, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, presented the Minister’s commendation to Standard Chartered Vietnam Bank for its contributions to environmental protection and climate change response.

In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment also presented the “For the Cause of Natural Resources and Environment” medal to Ms. Michele Wee, the bank’s CEO, for her contributions to the development of the natural resources and environment sector.

The bank also awarded commemorative medals to long-standing customers who have been accompanying Standard Chartered over the years.

Michele Wee, CEO of Standard Chartered Vietnam Bank, shared: “In the past 120 years, we have witnessed the incredible development of Vietnam, and we are honored to contribute to this development. The biggest event we will organize to celebrate our 120 years in Vietnam will be the Standard Chartered Heritage Marathon in Hanoi in November this year. In addition, we will continue to invest to promote trade, prosperity, and become a reliable partner, enhancing integration and supporting Vietnam’s ambitious vision for a comprehensive, sustainable, and prosperous economy for this wonderful country.”

The commemoration ceremony was followed by a concert themed “The Flow of Prosperity,” featuring performances by famous artists, with a special performance by the Green & Blue choir, consisting of 120 bank employees, conducted by Michele Wee, CEO of Standard Chartered Vietnam Bank.

The 120th-anniversary celebration will also be held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 21. In addition, Standard Chartered Vietnam Bank will organize a series of events and activities to mark this milestone, including the following highlights:

The Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon – Heritage Race, the first marathon event to take place in Vietnam, will honor the rich and unique cultural heritage of the capital city.

The “For the Beautiful Things Around Me” painting competition inspires creativity for all children living in Vietnam, helping them express their feelings and perspectives on the good things in life.

The Standard Chartered Cup 2024 soccer tournament promises to offer a unique experience for amateur players and soccer fans in Vietnam, with a special prize being a visit to Anfield Stadium and professional training with legends and coaches of Liverpool Football Club at the LFC Academy.

The SC Games tournament, featuring various sports, will be held in Vietnam for the first time, attracting participation from Standard Chartered employees from markets across Asia.

Established in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) in 1904, Standard Chartered is one of the oldest international banks in Vietnam.
