In North America, the Nissan Frontier – a mid-size pickup truck that previously shared the same platform as the global Navara – has been upgraded since 2021. However, the latest model of the Nissan Frontier now uses an independent platform. In its place, Mitsubishi Triton will join the market in 2023 as the sibling of the Nissan Navara, which recently underwent an upgrade in July of last year.
While the Triton, which uses a shared platform, is already available for sale, the new generation of the Nissan Navara is still in the development phase. With Nissan keeping tight-lipped about the new Navara, the Mitsubishi Triton is being used as a reference, such as for the graphic rendering by Theottle below.

Due to the shared platform, the overall size and proportions of the new generation Nissan Navara and Mitsubishi Triton are expected to be similar. Theottle has maintained these two criteria in their graphic rendering. However, Nissan’s unique characteristics are integrated into more specific details, such as the grille, headlights, and rear end.
The powertrain of the new generation Nissan Navara is expected to be quite similar to its sibling, the Triton. The initial release of the pickup truck will feature three different power options for the 2.4L diesel engine, producing 148, 181, and 201 horsepower respectively.
Both models are also expected to offer hybrid options in the future, although the new generation Nissan Navara may use a gasoline-electric configuration, while the Triton will use a diesel-electric configuration.
The latest generation Nissan Navara is set to debut in 2025 at the latest, with an earlier possible release in the second half of 2024. Shortly after the launch of the new model, its formidable rival, the Toyota Hilux, is also expected to receive an upgrade.
