As the Lunar New Year approaches, the demand for online shopping increases. Most recently, there has been a situation of “out of stock” at many reputable delivery service providers before the 2024 Lunar New Year. This not only puts pressure on delivery services and shippers, but also leaves online customers in a dilemma as the Lunar New Year is near and their orders are nowhere to be seen.

After the Lunar New Year, when the backlog of orders has been improved, customers go through a mix of emotions when their purchases finally arrive. Many people take to social media to express their feelings after waiting for weeks, or even months, to receive a call from the shipper. Ironically, most of these orders are clothes, jewelry, and shoes that were ordered for the Lunar New Year.

Dang Long, a 24-year-old office worker, said that after about a week after the Lunar New Year, he finally received 4 orders placed on January 15, 2023. When receiving the call from the shipper, Long felt a mix of joy and disappointment because his Lunar New Year purchases had just arrived.

“On February 16, the shipper called me to pick up the items. When the shipper said, ‘Miss, here are 4 orders for you,’ I felt both happy and disappointed. Fortunately, I was in Hanoi that day, so I could pick up the items directly. I’m just disappointed that I ordered these items to wear during the Lunar New Year and give to my family, but only received them now. Most of the items are clothes and home decorations for the Lunar New Year. To be honest, I can still wear the clothes, but I don’t know what to do with all these Lunar New Year items,” Long shared.

It’s not just Long, many other young people have similar feelings after receiving their pre-Lunar New Year orders. Thu Trang, a 21-year-old student, shared her frustrations when the shop informed her that the order would be delayed.

“I ordered a modern Vietnamese dress for 500k to wear on the Lunar New Year. At first, I was excited and hoping to receive the item early to take some photos. After about 5 days without any calls from the shipper, I contacted the shop, and they informed me that the order was delayed. The shop couldn’t provide a specific delivery time, so there were no promises. At that point, I felt anxious, but there was nothing I could do,” Thu Trang shared.

Recently, on February 14, Trang was finally notified by the shipper that her order had arrived: To be honest, I wasn’t happy when I received the item because I didn’t know when to wear it. By the time the next Lunar New Year comes, it might be out of fashion. I’ve seen many cases where people refuse to receive delayed orders, but I think that’s unfair. Regardless, I believe that if I placed an order, I should be responsible for receiving it and paying the full amount. It would be wrong to inconvenience the shippers for their dedication,” said Trang.

It is known that the transportation of goods has returned to normal after the Lunar New Year. In shopping groups, many people have shared that they have received their backlogged orders placed before the Lunar New Year.
