The PVN leadership looks forward to Mr. Le Ngoc Son continuing the achievements of his predecessor, so that PVN not only fulfills its current role, but also becomes a leading energy and industrial corporation in the country, continuing to expand the market and invest further in the field of electricity and renewable energy.

Mr. Le Ngoc Son shared that he has been trained and grown in the oil and gas industry. After more than 28 years, having held various positions, he expressed his commitment to continue the tradition of “fire seekers” for the common good, if entrusted and trusted.

It is known that Mr. Le Ngoc Son (born in 1972) is from Thanh Hoa province and has served in various positions at PVN. He specializes in the field of mining technology and has been the Head of the Petroleum Exploitation Division at PVN, as well as the General Director of the Phu Quoc Oil and Gas Operations Company.

Mr. Son has been the Deputy General Director of the corporation since 2021, responsible for the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas.

Prior to being appointed as Deputy General Director of PVN (since April 5, 2021), Mr. Le Ngoc Son served as the Head of the Oil and Gas Exploitation Division at PVN, and then spent nearly 5 years as the General Director of the Phu Quoc Oil and Gas Operations Company (PQPOC).

During his half-term as Deputy General Director of the corporation (upstream sector – E&P) under his supervision, there have been positive developments in both increasing production and developing new oil fields. Over the past two years, PVN and its partners have implemented a series of projects to develop new and offshore oil fields, including Su Tu Vang (phase 2), Kinh Ngư Trắng – Kinh Ngư Trắng Nam, Lạc Đà Vàng, Dai Hung (phase 3). In addition, the Nam Du – U Minh cluster is also being updated and revised in its FDP to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.

In terms of the Gas and Power project chain, PVN has made adjustments and additions in commercial negotiations with foreign partners to grant limited EPCI contracts to main contractors, laying the foundation for the implementation of component projects (including gas pipeline systems in the upstream and gas-fired power plants in the downstream).

The work of exploration, research, and increasing reserves has achieved a reserve replacement ratio of over 1:1 (reaching 13 million tons of crude oil in 2023). During this period, there have been two important new oil discoveries in Block 16-2 and Block PM3-CAA, as well as the completion and early production of 4 oil fields/projects. The production of crude oil reached 10.41 million tons, exceeding the target by 12.1%, with domestic production alone reaching 8.63 million tons, a decrease of 3.9% compared to 2022. PVN stated that this is the lowest decline compared to the previous period.

Along with that, the targets for increasing reserves and oil production have consistently exceeded the planned targets, laying the foundation for PVN’s records in terms of revenue and contribution to the state budget.
