Top 10 Stocks with the Strongest/Weakest Performance of the Week: VRE Soars, a Stock Surges 65% in One Week

The top 10 stocks with the highest increases on the HOSE stock exchange recorded a maximum increase of 34% and a minimum increase of 12%.

The VN-Index recorded a volatile trading week with strong selling pressure in the last trading session. However, the benchmark index still ended the week of 19-23/2 with a slight increase compared to the previous week’s session, stopping at 1,212 points.

On the HOSE exchange, the group of stocks with the strongest gains had a dominant increase over the group of stocks with losses. The top 10 stocks with the highest gains on the exchange recorded the highest increase of 34% and the lowest increase of 12%.

The stock ST8 of ST8 Development Investment Corporation had the strongest increase on the HOSE exchange, with a weekly price increase, including 4 trading sessions hitting the limit up to 14,100 VND/share, corresponding to a 34% increase in a week. Liquidity also improved significantly to an average of nearly 5 million shares traded per session.

The increase in ST8 stock came after a sharp decline of more than 40% previously, following the company’s announcement of its lowest profit in history in 2023. Specifically, in the past year, as it has divested almost all of its business sectors, this company only brought in 13.2 billion VND in revenue, a decrease of 96% compared to the same period last year. According to the latest update, two shareholders Chu Van Kien and Liu Dang Khoa have registered to purchase over 800 thousand shares to become major shareholders starting from 5/2.

The focus of the stock market recently has been on the “family” of stocks of Vingroup, exemplified by Vincom Retail (VRE). This stock has increased by nearly 13% in just one week of trading and is at its highest level in nearly 4 months.

The stock LAF of Long An Export Processing and Export Joint Stock Company also had a positive week of trading, increasing by 17% to nearly 16,000 VND/share, the highest level in the past 17 months. The increase occurred after the company announced the payment of cash dividends for 2023 at a ratio of 15%, with the last registration date being 15/3 and the implementation date being 12/4. In addition, the company announced that it will hold its annual general meeting on 17/4.

In terms of declines, a series of stocks on the HOSE exchange recorded a common decrease of 6% to 17%, with the strongest selling pressure on TTE stock.

On the HNX exchange, the top 10 stocks with the strongest gains also recorded increases ranging from 11-52%. The stocks with gains were mainly small stocks with high speculative characteristics.

An outstanding example is MCO of BDC Vietnam Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, which increased its price throughout the week. MCO has increased to 19,200 VND, corresponding to an increase of nearly 52%. Speaking of MCO, this stock has previously seen an explosive increase of 4 times in just a few months from a price equivalent to a cup of iced tea of over 3,000 VND in November 2023 to the current price level.

In terms of declines, many stocks on the HNX exchange also recorded decreases ranging from 10% to 18%.

On the UPCOM exchange, due to wider trading amplitude, a series of stocks also increased from 32% to 65% in the past week.

The strongest gainer of the week is the newcomer BMW, which also hit its limit up for 4 sessions in a week. The market price skyrocketed by 65% in a week to reach 12,700 VND/share.

On the contrary, many stocks on the UPCOM exchange also recorded decreases ranging from 21% to 39% in the past week.
